Bridal Dress Shopping

Casey, on July 18, 2018 at 12:02 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
I am so like NERVOUS for Saturday. I think I have cold feet for dress shopping, cause once I have the dress it's going to feel really REAL and like OMG THIS IS HAPPENING.
I think I'm also nervous because of my weight and I do worry that I will be discouraged. I had a vision last year that totally changed in dress styles so I'm literally going to be trying on every kind to see what works best. It's nerve racking.

Yes I gained a lot of weight after my miscarriage, I was 307.7 at my heaviest and now I’m down to 200.5. I did a couple rounds of the hcg diet. It’s. Naturally occurring hormone in pregnant women and what it does is it targets the bad fat and not the good fat. I’ve recently found a better protocol for the hcg diet and it goes with a keto diet. I get to eat more and also good tasting food. It is cutting out carbs and eating a certain amount of protein and fat. Yes, you can actually eat fat in keto hcg to burn your fat. You can’t have sugar or starch accept for stevia and other natural sweetners. I’ve lost 10 inches off my chest, 11 off my waist, 10 off my Lower abdomen, I think 9 off my thighs and 3 off my arm. I have strong will power, but the keto hcg is made things so much more easier. If your interested in learning more ask to join hcg 3.0 keto assisted weight loss. The lady has all the info under files. You usually load and in the past I’ve always gained when loading, but if you load the way they suggest you could even lose while loading.

Wedding dress shopping is such a magical experience!! It's definitely a good idea to go with some sort of idea of what you like and what you think suits your body type...but be open to what your consultant says if they want you to try on something completely different than what you thought you wanted!! Good luck!!

I agree with Brittany, take time to notice yourself in the dresses. I love corset backs and bought my first one back in January size 24 I believe. I have since lost 107lbs since then and bought my second dress size 16 and since I’ve bought it I’ve lost more. I know the feeling of being nervous as I was very nervous in january as I had a lot to lose.

I suggest looking for the dress that is the one and you will know it when you try it on because it will light your face up. Also trying on lots of styles is very helpful to narrow down what you want. For me I found a dress that was almost the one but I wasn’t 100% sure and then I found another that I was 99% sold on, but I went to one last store and found my dress, granted it needs some tlc since it was a floor model it was also the cheapest dress and the last one I tried on.

Dress shopping is actually one of my favourite parts of wedding planning. I was worried about it too not finding the right one or not having the right body for it. I'm only 5 foot 2 so I was concerned. It all ended up being so good and I loved the experience. Try not to worry or stress about it and just go with the flow. The consultants at the bridal shops are also so insightful and helpful so just tell them your concerns and they will cater to you.

    Good Luck!!

I am the girl who gained quite a bit of weight throughout my relationship, and I even held off dress shopping for 4 months trying to lose some weight first... Once you're in those dresses, so much of that slips away... I was trying on size 16-22 size samples (I was bridal size 18 at the time)...

The dresses are constructed so well, it's nothing like trying on normal dresses. With the corsets, and layers, and boning, and slips... trust me, it's way more flattering than a traditional dress.

But you're totally right... try on every style. Someone wants you to try one you don't care for on the hanger? Try it anyways! No harm, no foul, and it is a great way to narrow down your favourite shape, style and fabric.

The #1 advice I can give you is slow down, take time to notice what you like/don't like in each dress, socialize with your group, and have fun! I went to 2 salons, tried on a total of 15-20 dresses... and I barely remember any dress other than the one I purchased!

Also, when I was putting it on, I knew. I felt a certain confidence grow inside of me before I even stepped out of the room. I felt like a bride, and felt like I could totally rock that dress.

I wish you the best of luck!! Have fun!!

It will all be fun and great! When it comes to the style of the dress most girls I have spoken to told me that they knew exactly what silhouette they wanted and neck line and then bam! they go shopping and wound up in something completely different anyways! As for the weight thing - just keep in mind that you are marrying your best friend in the entire world and that they love you to death no matter what size you are or what dress you pick.

Side note: not sure what size you are but I am a size 14 and I just found a bridal store that caters to sizes 14-32 here in Winnipeg - perhaps they have something like that near where you live as well?
