Booking Your First Vendor!

We booked our first venue as soon as my husband showed me a place he knew and would work though the price did sound pricy and the package later to find out was amazing for what was being given in it. I did compare it to a close by resort and it was somewhat close to being double and not at all promising, yet misguided for the main course aspect to pay for the guests.

I totally agree! It makes it that much easier once you have your date set with your venue to work around.

Our first vendor was our venue. I think for us that was the most important one to lock down. It was easier to plan all the rest around it.

View quoted message I totally get what you mean. I'm one of those brides that have had to postpone not once but twice and move everything around.
If you haven't starting looking for your dress yet, I would suggest looking sooner then later. I'm not too sure how long it would take now for dresses to come in if you need to order because of covid. I know when I bought my dress back in 2019 it took 7 months for it to come in.

Venue first because that set the date - from there I went with what felt important to lock down (with trying to plan in under a year during a pandemic when other brides are trying to reschedule their post-poned wedding) which was photographer and decor. I also saved a spot with my fave alterations girl, as she was getting very busy with upcoming weddings, and didn't want to lose a spot with her (even tho I dont even have a dress yet). Now to find an officiant and make up.

Our venue is defiantly the biggest chunk of money in our budget as well! It's crazy how much weddings cost

We booked our venue first too! It’s usually the biggest chunk in the budget at least in our case!


Then we booked the caterer, florist, photographer and videographer, hair and makeup, dj, hotel block, officiant, shuttle service! Don’t think I’m forgetting anything lol

That totally makes sense! And having it on an off day during the week will defiantly give you the chance to get the right vendors. The first two wedding dates that we unfortunely had to postpone were a Saturday and now our new date is on a Sunday and we're so thankful that we haven't had to switch any of our vendors

If vendors have deals, why not! Glad you were able to get your venue with the same date as your photographer! That was our worry booking a vendor before our venue and not having the same date available

I think a lot of couples lean towards booking the venue first. It's the biggest party of the day imo

We had a few venues in mind, but at the same time we were looking for photographers and video. So we did book the photographer first because they had a deal going on. After we booked the venue. Our wedding is not big as we just want close family and friends to be there.

We also booked venue first, then photographer, DJ/live music, officiant, cake hair and makeup
