Best option for invitations?

Ariana, on April 12, 2019 at 10:59 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 26

Hey guyss

Wanted to get some input on your thoughts on professionally done vs online invitations (specifically vistaprint). I know doing it online saves money, just curious if anyone has used this method and if they would recommend it?

Also if anyone has any recommendations on websites that do wedding invitations that would be great

Thanks!

You can even upload your own design on Vistaprint. I designed my invites on Canva.

They are very customizable.... except for the colour of the card. Usually each one has a few colour options. If you like a design, but not the colour you’d probably have to create your own and then use the design. You could always email vistaprint and see if they could do a certain colour for you. They’re amazing so I’m sure they could!

When you did your invitations were you able to request a specific colour for a specific design??
I looked at some and found one I really love but the colour options don't match my colour schemeSmiley sad

Honestly Vistaprint has always been amazing. I have been using them for years and they have great customer service. If something doesn't ship within a timely manner, they will refund everything and reship. Even if you get original shipment, they let you keep it.

If you mess up something on your invite, they will remake it at no charge.

The quality they deliver is amazing. my FH and I are photographers and have calendars made every year from them, and they turn out amazing. We ordered our Save-the-Dates and Invitations from them.

When Canada Post was on strike, we didn't get our invitations (they got lost in the mail). They were extremely apologetic on their behalf, refunded us, gave us a credit and reshipped. We eventually got the originals and they said we could keep them.

We used Vista Print for our Save the Dates and Invitations and the quality was great! I upgraded the paper to the "pearl shimmer" and it was a really nice choice. I think for the price and quality, it's a good choice.

We haven't sent out anything yet, but our Save the Dates will definitely be through Vistaprint. I've ordered other things through them and have had nothing but positive experience with their quick shipping and great customer service.

I love Etsy! I've discovered so many local artists via that website. I've bought purses, jewelry, house decorations, gifts, etc. I usually ask for an Etsy gift card at xmas Smiley smile

I'd recommend searching "wedding template" so that you're not looking at physical invitations. This way, the product will either be downloadable or sent via email in a PDF format.

Depending on the artist/vendor you end up picking, the product might be customizable upon downloading it. So you'll be able to do whatever you want with the product. Other artists might just send you the end product, so you'd be contacting them with the wording and any other customization you'd like on your invitation.

Usually, you'll find all of the info you need in the description of the product.

Yes! Vistaprint actually provides templates for sizing and you can even upload your illustrator designs right to the site!

Vistaprint customer is very good to customize to your colour theme and size of the invitation needed. Chat with them online and they can help you out.

I am not 100% sure. Some templates only have certain colours. But if you call their customer service they would be able to walk you through it and help you out.

Actually I made mine online with a template; and I’m having them printed at Staples. It’s very affordable and my Fiancé and I had a lot of fun playing around with styles. Try looking around online and give it a go! Good luck honey

I have ordered a LOT of stuff over the years on etsy I love it!!! If you see something you like but want changes you can always message the seller and see what they can do! Also some artists on etsy may offer to sell you a file that you can take and then print yourself at vista print or Staples! Tons of options!

I haven't even thought to look on etsy. I have never bought anything from there so Im a little skeptical tbh. You had a good experience with etsy? How does it work if I see a design I like but want a specifc colour?

I can't stand the price increase for weddings either, ridiculous. I plan on excluding the word wedding when i can when booking things ie nails, hair.

All my invites including the menu cards were created/printed on Vistaprint. The prices are amazing and lower than actual stores costing way higher. I still order things on that site which are amazing to get as gifts or just a calendar updated every year.

After the wedding and pictures were handed to me personally, the photo book was created on there provided how I wanted to be done.

I went through all the options for both my invites, shower, and save the dates.

In the end I went for Vistaprint. They are amazing, good quality, and great customer service to help with any issues. Like Valerie said, they do send you samples which were very helpful when picking our invites.

I hate the price of anything under the 'wedding' umbrella haha. They jack them up so high, it's ridiculous.

For this reason, we went with a template from vistaprint for our save the dates. We're going with an Etsy template for our invitations, which we'll print through vistaprint. I was really happy with their customer service, quality and prices.

If you're unsure about the quality, I'd suggest requesting your free sample package. They include a sample of all of their papers (think, matte, glossy, recycled, etc.). Plus they always give you 20-40% off either via email or with your order, not to mention all of the deals they have on a regular basis.

I think it depends on your guests. If everyone has access to the internet and emails and such or someone to help them with it then you should be ok to do online invites.

Some people like to have the physical invitation that they can stick on their fridge as a reminder as well.

We did a little bit of both and did online RSVP and physical invites (that we did through Vistaprint) and found that everyone liked this. Some of the older guests just ended up calling us cause they weren't sure about the online portion so we are glad we didn't do the invites online.

I've heard good things about both vista and staples online print and copy store - I used them for Save the Dates. I couldn't find anything I really liked online so I'm designing my own on Adobe Illustrator and getting them printed at a local print shop.

I'm finding that Costco is the best value, the selection is not as large as others but you get 25 invites for 17.99 and it includes envelopes printed with a return address. So for me my invitations and RSVP cards are about $65.00. I am not ordering RSVP for everyone, just the guests who are older and would not understand the whole online RSVP thing.

I would say online is cheaper, I quoted few local businesses as if can support local I will. But it was near a 1000 for what I wanted. I got all my invites during a sale on vista print and it was under 150. The quality was amazing and fast service.

I would say the best option would be online. I have reached out to a couple in-city printers and honestly, they are so dificult to work with and nothing but problems. I've also heard horror stories here on WW about not getting the invitations in time when going with professionally done ones. Where as vistaprint has great customer service and speedy delivery!

I'm giving my one friend/coworker a shot but told her if she can't have them ready for me to hand out at Easter I'm opting for Vistaprint.
