Band or dj?

Getting married in Ottawa on July 28, 2018...

Wondering what your opinions are for bands or djs? Which is usually cheaper/more fun? We would be needing music for procession, cocktail hour and after dinner Smiley smile

I love bands at weddings but they are definitely wayyyyy more expensive! Even after the package cost, we had to factor in 12 vendor meals to cover all of the band members Smiley surprise

Have you started looking at DJs and bands in your area?

I would go with dj that way guests can request songs with a band don't really have that option

I am going with a dj due to a few reasons... limited floor space, less expensive and they can play a greater range of music.

I prefer a DJ, this way all different types of music are played for everyone's liking!

It's all in what you prefer. If you want a more relaxed kind of feel i would probably go with A band or musician. We chose a DJ as we have very specific songs we want for the ceremony and we want to have a dance party at the reception

We decided to be our own DJ. We got a wedding playlist from a friend and just added some personal favourites. We are putting it all on an iPod and plugging in some speakers. That would be the cheapest option out of all three. I'm not sure which would cost you more between a band and a DJ. Depending on which venue you book, one or the other could be included. It is also worth thinking about maybe splitting your options like having your procession and cocktail hour music on an iPod to save some money and hire a band or DJ for later.

Whichever way you go, your guests will have a great time.

I'm not sure. We're just planning on making our own playlist and plugging some speakers in. The nice thing about a DJ is you can pick exactly which songs you want. But there's also something nice about live music! I'm sure your guests will have a blast either way!
