Band or DJ?

Lynnie, on October 1, 2018 at 09:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 21

The reception music can make or break your party! Who are you trusting to keep your guests on the dance floor all night long? Did you hire a live band or a DJ?

Next Question: Seating Chart or Escort Cards?

Or start from the beginning: Are you reception ready?

Neither. We are renting the equipment and making a playlist. I am also making a spot for song requests on my rsvps and using them to create the playlist Smiley smile

DJ - play tons of different types of music. Although a live band would be nice, too expensive!

DJ. A band was out of our budget.

DJ and great music getting everyone on the floor and took requests even though should have not played the worst profanity songs at the end.

DJ. A live band would have been awesome, but we like such a wide range of music, so a DJ works better too.

DJ! Much more variety in music and easier to dance to I find! I would love to have a violinist during cocktail hour though!

Neither. We did a Spotify playlist and had a few people watching it. It worked great!

DJ! My FH wanted to make a playlist, but that was a big 'no' for me. So many things could go wrong (bad playlist, bad connection, random people playing with the laptop, etc.) So we decided to hire a DJ to take care of ALL of it + be the MC.

DJ! I thought about just making a Spotify playlist but I didn't want to put that responsibility on myself. Plus, if guests want to make requests, it could mess up the pre-made playlist so we hired a great DJ

    DJ!
We’ve got a long standing joke/reference to what makes a good DJ, and I served as the DJ for his wedding, so my cousin will be doing us the honour.
We intend to gift him with some nifty wireless headphones as a thank you.

DJ for sure. We would love a band but not only are they more expensive - but you run the risk of them not knowing a song or messing up or even taking a break with no music at all. (DJ's take breaks but can set a little string of songs to do so.)
