Backyard Wedding on a Budget

Denai, on January 13, 2018 at 22:23 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 11
Has anyone had a backyard wedding? We want to keep it small and intimate and not spend tons of money but also want it to be fun and cute and have a good time. We are thinking to bring in a portable dance floor, string some lights and have a camp fire to do speeches around later on. But just hoping that it will turn out to be like I’m picturing in my head.

If you have ever had a backyard wedding, how did it go? Pros and cons? Did you rent a backup hall in case of rain? Any tips? Anything you wish you did differently?

It was very simple. They had a tent with lights that the chairs were under for the ceremony.

And then for the reception they moved the chairs and placed an assortment of tables under the tent for dinner in a U shape.

Just a suggestion you guys could make a dance floor out of wood. Not sure how hard it could be but finish it with a stain, paint it maybe even add something to it. Hope you figure it out

I am doing a small backyard wedding. Approx 25-30 ppl, renting a tent, having the ceremony on our patio, dinner (taco bar!) and then just a party - music, mingling, etc. I'm a bit stuck on what to do about a 'dance floor' as we'll have 3 long tables for dinner...I guess just move them aside...

Will do! I love the look of a tent anyways. Just crossing my fingers a storm doesn't roll by! If only we could control the weather haha.

I suggest renting a tent for sure but you can forgo the dance floor as grass is good enough Smiley smile I think it will be lovely and intimate!

Definitely rent a tent, just in case! Love the idea of a backyard wedding, but definitely rent something in case of bad weather!

We are doing a backayrd wedding Smiley smile but it wont be small... We have a guest list of 180.

My maid of honour had a small 20 person backyard wedding last summer and it was the cutest wedding ive ever been to.

Also i love the campfire idea for speeches so much!! We really wanted to have a bonfire at ours but because our wedding is in July our municipality have a fire ban every year at that time so it was a no go. We might try and set up a couple propane fire pits though.

I think as long as you rent a tent you dont need a backup location.
