Backyard wedding

Misty, on January 8, 2019 at 22:28 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Hi, looking for advice on backyard weddings ! Here is what I have so far: it will be at my grandparents back yard, we are renting a tent with lights and dance floor along with a DJ, it will be a bbq pot luck, we will have a marriage commissioner there, simple paper signing is all, ( maybe vow exchange) and it will be bring your own alcohol and tenting if youre drinking.. Now what can I do for decorations and such? Should I have fireworks as well? Trying to be as cheap but nice as possible

Fairy/twinkle lights (those small lights) are never a bad choice for decoration. I would also go along the lines of rustic/garden wedding themes since those work more with a backyard venue (wood, mason jars, florals, greenery, etc).

Fireworks would definitely be a unique and neat idea but they usually aren't cheap, like Tori mentioned.

I would go along the lines of the rustic. barn wood/lights/whites. a table idea is white table cloths. and centerpieces being a wood slab with mason jars on it. one mason jar with baby breaths and the other mason jar with twinkle/fairy lights (you can buy them battery operated for cheap on amazon).

sounds like a fun party! Smiley smile

Personally I would go to the wedding show that is going on on the 19th and 20th and talk to some decorators to steal their ideas Smiley tongue

Otherwise I would think that twinkle lights would look great at night, and maybe stay away from streamers to avoid your wedding looking like a kids birthday party. Balloons are hit and miss depending on what colours you get but if you do go with balloons, go with white and silver perhaps? Rather than your wedding colours whatever they are. If you are wanting fireworks - you are not going to get cheap... I have spent over $500 between me and my Dad one year for Canada Day and still wished we had more!!

    P.S. Congrats on the engagement!!!

Do you have any pictures of the property you could share? I would definitely check out pinterest for idea. We are going more rustic and using a lot of wood elements. I have also been to backyard weddings that use pallets and "christmas" lights for decor.
