Assigned Seats or Assigned Tables?

Lynnie, on October 1, 2018 at 09:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 20

How are you handling the reception seating for your guests? Are you just assigning tables and letting your guests pick their seat at the table, or did you go all the way and assigned specific seats?

Next Question: Buffet or Plated?

Or start from the beginning: Are you reception ready?

Assigned tables, I do not care where they sit when they get there.

Each guest will be assigned a seat at each table. I have a slight OCD obsession and want to have an even number of men and women at each table alternated around the table.

Probably neither. I don't see any reason to decide for guests where to sit and who to sit with. We might reserve a couple tables closer to the front for immediate family but otherwise leave it as a free for all.

Both! We had a gorgeous seating chart done up, then just did place settings for everyone that had a sticker with their meal choice on it

Assigned tables. I have nothing against assigned seats, but I don't think it's necessary.

Both. Guest favours were set according to table numbers assigned.

Assigned tables. So far... I'm not really picky about having assigned seats, but if I catch the DIY bug, I may make place cards and do assigned seats.

Assigned tables. There’s only 8-10 seats per table so it shouldn’t be too hard.

I want to do assigned seats just so people dont have to worry about it or fight for a certain spot or like not directly sit beside someone already sitting?

If they decide to switch it up once already seated that's totally fine!

Assigned tables. I find assigned seats makes me feel like i'm in school still. however I do get from a venue/catering point of view. that assigned seats can be way more helpful/necessary.

Assigned seating. Our venue will be setting up long tables, which means that the lines will be blurred between our friends and extended family.

Assigned tables. Most of the tables hopefully are groups that already get along/know each other, plus we're having classic round tables so guests can see everyone at the table.

Assigned tables. Even if we were to assign the seats, I feel like people would move around the table to sit by who they want anyways.

This is a great question but when I think of assigned I think of seats, but feel that it may be less of a hassle to have assigned tables instead of seats. Hmmmm! Will discuss it with my FH and coordinator. Thanks for the tip!

Seats. We will be having assigned seats as the tables will be very long rectangles and don't want our family to have to fight for the better seats.
