Are you using a wedding planner?

Kate, on May 12, 2021 at 18:19 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 12
If so, what kind of package did you select and approximate price?
Trying to decide if it’s worth it. I don’t need a full wedding planner, but thinking of getting one for partial services for month and day of.
Looking at around $2000 for that. Thought?!
Thanks!

As of right now I am not planning on using a wedding planner or a day of coordinator. Its just not in our budget right now. If we do end up having extra money in the budget closer to, we will consider a day of coordinator. But if not, I'm confident it will be fine. At my MOHs wedding we did not have a day of coordinator, and we handled everything ourselves

Thanks, agreed Smiley smile I was able to find a day of coordinator who I provide my master timeline to and they ensure the day goes smoothly. It is $800 for the day. I am debating between that one and the month of coordinator which is closer to the $2000 mark...

I was contemplating the idea and went with a Day of Coordinator to have everything done though it was small and not much time to get done. I did cancel her and later on since I knew I could handle it. A Day of Coordinator seems the right direction to go since you do want the ceremony/venue to be set up and taken care by the professional while you get to relax the day of your wedding. The cost is around $2000 for the services provided. You choose the best company you feel comfortable to do what you need.

We hired a day-of/month-of coordinator as a "peace of mind insurance", $1355. Someone to help create a realistic itinerary for the big day, someone to keep track of vendors that day if needed, and help us find replacements if any of them drop out at the last minute, and just make sure everything is running smoothly and on schedule. We just want our families to be able to have a good time with us and not worry about keeping track of anything.
We hired her in late 2019 when we started planning for our Sept 2020 wedding which we have postponed to June 2021 and she has already been worth every penny helping us replan our wedding with covid restrictions.

I'm leaning towards a day-of coordinator, mainly for set up and teardown so my maid of honor doesn't have to worry about getting too tipsy to flip the venue at the end of the night. I'm sure there are other things that will pop up throughout the day that will just be nice to have someone dedicated to tend to. Even though our wedding will only be 30 people it just gives some peace of mind, and I've seen day-of services for as low as $600 here in Alberta.

So I really wanted to get a month of or day of coordinator, I didn't see a point in full coordination as I've already been planning and booking things on my own, just kind of want someone there to make sure everything is tied together at the end and take care of all the details on the day so we can just enjoy ourselves and not worry, as well as our family/parents and wedding party members. My fiance does not see a point to coordinators/planners and thinks it is a waste of money and we don't need one - I just don't think he is thinking forward to the day and what small details need to be taken care of.

Anyways, I think pricing really depends on your location, your prices in GTA/Toronto will be much different than a little bit north or east. When I started researching month of/day of coordinators the prices I got were $800, $1,000, and $1,200 (and up from there). I also managed to find one for $600 but I think that one is a bit of an outlier and not the norm.

A family friend who happens to be a coordinator is going to work with us instead of us hiring someone else we don't know, so I'm pleased with that and that we can have the coordinator like I wanted and someone we know. I personally think it's a really worthwhile investment to have less stress the day of.

You'd also want to look at exactly what is included in their package - are they proving you with a client portal and resources? do you have unlimited communication with them? does it also include coordinating other related events like your bridal shower? run your rehearsal and be at your rehearsal dinner? do they provide their own assistant if need be, or is that something extra $$? what exactly are their duties during that day? some things to think about

I opted for a Month-of-Coordinator. $2000 is a good ballpark for such services. I find they run between $1500-$3000 on average. Only the super pro "celebrity" planners charge more.

Most legit planners in the GTA won't differentiate between Day-of and Month-of services since they need to work more than just the one day in order to properly facilitate your wedding. I wouldn't trust someone that says they can just do Day-of without any prep beforehand.

Personally having a planner/coordinator is worth it. I'm also the type of person who want my friends and family to enjoy the day so I'm not a fan of the idea on using them to work the wedding.

Thanks for the info! I agree - I really don’t want to be stressed that day at all or feel like I need to check in on things. I will definitely get one for day of!

We hired a day of coordinator who really provides more like week/month of services. She is supposed to create a comprehensive timeline of the entire day for all vendors, coordinate vendors day of, do set up/tear down of the venue, etc. She was about $1200 but we got 2020 prices so I'm sure she's increased them since then.

I definitely think it's worth it to have a day of coordinator to deal with any problems that may arise on your wedding day. It's pretty inevitable that someone is going to have questions or something small may not go exactly according to plan and it's not something you'll want to (or have time to) deal with. They can also help with last minute set up or tear down that isn't the responsibility of other vendors. Even just small things like if everything is running about 10 minutes late they can let all of the other vendors know so everyone is on the same page and nothing happens before it's supposed to.

I didn't think a full on planner or anything more comprehensive was necessary for me though. I like to be in control and wanted to do the legwork myself to find all of our vendors, finalize contracts, etc. I think if you're super busy, don't live in the same city as your wedding, or the thought of doing all of that work is daunting it could be worth it to hire a planner.

My fiance and I have gotten a day of corrdinator. She will be doing all of the day stuff such as getting all of our decor ready for ceremony and reception (centerpieces head table, walk in table cake table) As well as helping with the vendors setting up for the day and helping us with the timing of walking down the aisle and walking into our reception. We're paying around 900 for the day
