Are you assigning seats, assigning tables, or leaving it open?

Joey, on January 22, 2019 at 08:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 42

When your reception rolls around, will your guests be assigned to a certain seat? Will you direct them to a table and let them seat themselves? Or will guests be allowed to seat themselves wherever they like?

Are you assigning seats, assigning tables, or leaving it open? 1

I am doing assigned tables, but not seats. I’ve been to weddings with no seating plan at all and it gets messy!

Just doing assigned tables not seats. We went with family style so we don't need exact seats for guests

I wanted our reception casual with no assigned seats but then my mom suggested to at least assign tables that way we maxamize our space and not have people who dont know everyone off by themselves at a table.

Will you have signs that let people know there is not assigned seating and they can sit wherever they like? I'm doing the exact same thing and I just wasn't sure if people should find out through word-of-mouth (I do have a day-of coordinator) or I should put up some sort of cute sign.

We are assigning seats and tables. With almost 200 guests, it was the easiest option for us Smiley smile

No assigned seats, as we are not having a traditional sit down meal. Tapas will be served as guests are encouraged to mingle while they eat. There will be tables and seating for those that wish to sit, as well as tall pub tables to stand at.

We're definitely assigning tables and seats, especially so it's easier for the venue to pre-plan in advance who selected which meal!

We're leaving it open as my side of the guest list is bigger because I have a big family.

We’re definitely going to be assigning tables, but not seats. If we don’t assign tables, I think it might end up in chaos! Lol

We are definitely having assigned tables, but haven’t decided about assigned seats yet. Part of me thinks it would be too much of a hassle, but another part of me also really likes the idea of having personalized thank you cards/favours at each seat. We would definitely do assigned seats as well if our venue emphasized the importance of it for meals/allergies/etc.

Assigned seats with favours and personized names on the thank you card as they found their seats. it was arranged to be easy and cohesive based on colour. everyone complimented on the simplicity and elegance of the whole outlook of the wedding and reception.

We are doing assigned tables but not assigned seating. We thought this would be the best way to avoid conflict without being too controlling

My fiancé and I are having a small wedding; tables will be planned ahead, though I don't think it's necessary for us to assign individual seats as each guest is capable of seating themselves at the appropriate table, haha.

Due to our menu having multiple options and food allergies we have assigned tables and seating. Our venue will have a map of the guests and which meals to bring where for those who are allergic.

Our venue has long rectangular tables and we'll be assigning seats. There are a few cousins I just know would try and get a spot front and centre, to get more attention...and I want to avoid that!

We are doing assigned tables, but will have a seating chart along with escort cards.

The reason for this is that we are possibly doing 2 different meal options, plus vegetarian/vegan options. We are going to have most of the vegetarians at one table (they all know each other so it works out lol) to make things easier on catering but there will still be one or two in the crowd.

I think it is way too much work and worry to assign tables and seats. We will reserve tables for close family and the rest will be open for the guests to seat themselves.
