Are videographers worth it?

Emily, on November 12, 2018 at 05:24 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to hear people's opinions on Videographers. I'm debating if I should get a cheaper photographer in order to have the videographer, or just spend more money and get a really nice photographer and no videographer.

Would love to hear others experience with this!

Its worth it especially since now they do same day edit if you want to have a captured video on youtube for family and friends not attended to see.

An experienced videographer is the way to go and they know their way around the venue and shots needed for your big day.

I don't know many people who watch their wedding video. We're not doing it since it's a) expensive and b) not a priority.

FH really wanted a videographer ...but I don’t think I’d ever watch the video. So we’re going to set up our own cameras and film it ourselves.

In my personal opinion I LOOOOOOOOOVE those video shorts that people post of their weddings! And then you get the WHOLE day on tape for you! I think it's a great idea!!!

It depends on what you value most! Do you think you’ll reference your pictures from the wedding more often or a video?

Personally, I’d probably fuss about the angles and things I can’t control in a video (such as lighting, other people, etc.), so I think if you’re anything like me in that regard investing the money in a better photographer is worth it over having both. Pictures can be shared and utilized in many more ways than a video can, so to sacrifice the best pictures you could have just to have both is a risk.

But consider the fact that not having a videographer is one of the top regrets of most brides (according to surveys I’ve seen on here and The Knot, anyway).

For me it was not in the budget to do it. My sister had one and she hasn't watched the wedding video since they got it. After hearing that, I didnt feel the need to get one and spend the money. What I will be doing is getting any family members who take videos to save them and send them to me.

One of the things I always hear from others is that they wish they would have gotten a video of the ceremony. So for me, I will be either getting one or I will set up my own tripod if I have to!! lol They are all so expensive so I don't know if I can afford to pay $3000 for less than an hour of filming.
