Are speeches needed?

We don't want speeches since our bridal party doesn't really want to do them but our parents do, so we are allowing people to say something but giving them 2 min max.

You don't feel to give a speech, a simple Thank you card on each plate is enough for what you want to accomplish.

You definitely don't need to but I do agree you absolutely need to speak yourselves! I find speeches (if good) are a great way to keep some entertainment during dinner too so something to consider. Not that great table conversation and low music isn't good enough!

You don't have to have them if you really don't want to. It's your wedding, do what you and your fiance want to do!
