Any winter 2019 brides?

Shla, on December 10, 2018 at 09:24 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 5
Winter weddings are SO gorgeous. Any December/January/February 2019 brides? We're looking at moving to a winter wedding instead of the originally planned fall wedding just to be a little different. Thinking December 28th 2019.

What's your winter wedding reason? 😊

    January 19, 2019 right here!

#1 reason for winter wedding: we got engaged December 2017, Summer 2018 was too soon, Summer 2019 was too far away... haha.

Also many more amazing reasons for January:

    - Cheapest month of the year to get married (if venues/vendors offer seasonal discounts)

    - Slowest month of the year (literally nothing is happening)

    - Always get to escape Canadian winter in January for any future anniversary trips (and our honeymoon)

    - It's different. Not many people I know get married in the dead of winter, and I have been asked so many times "Omg, why January"... to which my response has now become, "Because of that reaction, right there"

    - An excuse for no flowers! Flowers generally don't grow in January, so you can go to alternatives, for example, I've made pinecone bouquets for the centrepieces! (We are doing real flower white rose and blue thistle bouquets for the bridal party though)

    - No sweating in your dress! No melted make-up, no frizzy hair, no wilting curls from the heat! Everyone's good with staying warm indoors, and you don't have to worry about a secondary outdoor space for when people want to cool off.

    - You can start later!!! I saved probably thousands of dollars by doing my ceremony at 4.30pm, because the sun sets at 4.43pm that day, and then we go straight into the reception at 5pm, totally skipping cocktail hour. We'll be doing all of our photos pre-ceremony, while we still have day light. Another perk of this that I've been told is: it's great to get all your photos out of the way while everyone's hair/make-up/clothes are super fresh, and then any ceremony tears, reception spills, or stray winds don't really matter anymore!

There are many more reasons (beautiful snow shots, decor options, family already coming in for the holidays, etc).... but overall I don't think you can go wrong!

Aww, not having everyone she wanted there must have been disappointing! But at least she got her dream.

Luckily our guest list is tiny and everyone is local. Saves that kina worry. Haha.

My wedding is November 23rd, so it’s not technically winter but given that it’s cold enough to be winter and also I’ll have Christmas decorations I’m gonna keep saying it’s a winter wedding 😂 For me it was about flight prices from England in order for as much family as possible to make it to the wedding! But I love winter and Christmas so I’m very excited!

A good family friend did a January 5 or 6 wedding. She is OBSESSED with Christmas. and loves the snow. she originally wanted an earlier December wedding. but it didn't work out schedule wise with their wedding party/parents etc.

she did it because she wanted to really have the crystal/sparkly in her decorations. and she wanted the winter wedding photos (she rented this beautiful fur stole). she lucked out and it snowed the night before. so there was a lot of fresh snow photos.

the only downfall for her. was that due to the season. several people couldn't make it last minute due to weather and illness. (and she had already given her final numbers).
