Animal Magnets

Abbie, on April 22, 2021 at 15:29 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14
Has anyone used these animal magnets for name holders/favours? I’m obsessed 🤩 just wondering what the quality of the animals are like, and whether you felt they were worth the money! Also, do you think these are acceptable as a wedding favour? I’m trying to save some money and combine place card holders and favours Smiley smile

Nice idea for escort card holders. Different and fits your concept of being animal lovers. The cost seems low and for what you like.

Glad you think so! I think they’re cute and quirky, but can also be done classily! Animals are such a huge part of who I am so I thought they were a perfect touch 😁

Hopping in to say these are such a cute idea! If my husband and I hadn't already decided on our place card holders a while ago I'm sure we would be looking into something like this as a way to incorporate our pets!

I just remembered you wanted to incorporate your cat and horse into your wedding! Are you thinking about doing cat and horse ones? I think that would be so nice!

Ooh that’s a good idea! I figure if I’m going to do it I might as well like the animal figurines!

Though I just did the math and when you order 100 of them they’re only about $2.70 each which really isn’t that bad!

I think I also got them from the dollar store or maybe from Michaels or something, but I honestly can't remember it's been so long. I think any low profile magnet would work though. I'm sure amazon has something if you can't find anything in store.

I know they have the little animals at other places like Michaels too that might be more reliable but they're quite a bit more expensive - still cheaper than the Etsy route though. I guess if you were to go in multiple days with a 40% off coupon that might make it a bit easier on the wallet!

Oh I’m totally squirming inside over the cost! Where did you get magnets from? Smiley smile I’ll check out the dollar stores! I just want to make sure the animals are cute, some of the dollar store ones are quite mutated 😂

It’s totally a good idea! I just don’t think I could personally stomach the cost knowing how much it all really costs. And I would have fun DIYing them haha Smiley smile

I did it quite a while ago so I can’t remember the brand but I got them at a dollar store. They’re sort of like a hard rubber material and about 1.5 inches long. I’ve seen them in packs of about 10-15 and they have dinosaurs, farm animals, dogs, cats, etc. I’m almost positive some of the dinosaur ones one that Etsy page are the same as the ones I’ve used. If you’re able to go into a few stores I’m sure you’d find some.

One thing I did really like about this store is that they allowed you to customize animal choice and colour Smiley smile

What brand of animals did you use? I’m pretty crafty so I think I could probably do it - though cutting up the animals might hurt a bit 😅

Lol could you imagine messing up the magnetic poles - that would be disastrous!

I haven't used these for placeholders, but I did make my own animal magnets a few years ago. It's super easy and quick to do even if you're not a DIYer and you could probably do it for 1/10 of the price. Plus you could customize them to whatever animals and colour you wanted.

You would just need to buy some rubber animal figurines. The dollar store usually has some but amazon could work too. You would also need magnets, spray paint, and glue. Hot glue is probably easiest but if you have something like E6000 or another really strong bond glue that would also work really well. Then you cut them in half - a bit barbaric but worth it haha. Spray paint them. Glue them to the magnets. If you want to use them as placeholders just make sure you're using the correct sides of the magnets so that your animals want to snap together and aren't repelled from one another.
