And the wedding day countdown starts all over again....

Vanessa, on August 11, 2020 at 13:46 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 8

So last week we made the hardest decision to postpone our December wedding and today we finished confirming with all of our vendors. We are postponing to December 4, 2021; Ceremony and reception.

My fiance is from the US and we have about 40-50 people coming from the US including his family and entire wedding party. We made this decision based on what is happening in the US today and there is just no way that we wouldn't want to share this day with his family and with all the rules for weddings, it just isn't the wedding day we were both dreaming of. The last couple months haven't been "fun", we haven't been "excited" as we should be ... it just feels like a chore now instead of planning our dream wedding.

Regardless of changing our date, we are still legally getting married this year (we are hoping to get married December 4 this year so next year we are celebrating our 1 year anniversary.)

Here's to 2021 weddings Smiley smile

It's definitely painful and yes, hopefully they can come to the reception next year!

We are doing the exact same thing - our micro wedding this year is just us and a witness. We didn't' want to involve anyone else so that next year, we can all be together and go through the typical wedding day traditions.

Good luck with your wedding this year.

It was definitely a tough choice but we are very happy we made it ... we have both been stressed for several months now and yes weddings are stressful but not like this. Hoping next year is much better and will allow for US travel

    Thanks so much Hank!

We were super happy that all of our vendors not only were available, but none of them increased their prices for us. Looks like we chose the right people Smiley smile

We can finally relax for a bit and start planning the little things next spring.

My fiance's parents live in Wisconsin so I feel your pain there! We are also getting married this year (sadly without them) and are hopeful that they can enter the country for our reception next year. We've planned to renew our vows and keep a lot of the wedding traditions for next year to make it feel like they didn't miss anything.

The choice is hard as it is imagined to make the sacrifice and still proceed with the wedding this year. Sometimes the obstacles are what we have to face reality as family and friends in the states do want to travel and make it for your celebration. Its the compromise your making for your anniversary party towards your special day. The positive thought is there without a doubt to move forward knowing what this year has hit us hard and for US travelling.
