All inclusive vs. cruise

Meghan, on December 28, 2017 at 09:37 Posted in Honeymoon 0 13
We were planning on going to an all inclusive resort somewhere down south for our honeymoon because I have never been. However we would be going in August and we’ve had a few people tell us that it’s going to be unbearably hot at that time and have suggested a cruise instead.
Has anyone gone at that time of year and could suggest some place that might not be as bad or have any experiences with different cruises. TIA

No, no idea really. I think I’m leaning more towards an all inclusive though. I think I would enjoy a cruise but like Erin said, it’s going to be hard to do ‘nothing’ on a cruise. We’re likely going to want to get off the ship and explore the different places and we wanted more of a relaxing time just hanging out on the beach for our honeymoon.

This was one of the many discussions we had over the holidays. People either love cruises or hate it. Ultimately, it depends on what you wish to do during your honeymoon. Keep in mind that rooms, on a cruise, are small and that you're on a schedule (either at Sea or docked for 'x' amount of time).

That being said, one could argue that the planning is pretty minimal since the cruise figured it all out for you.

Do you have an idea of which type of cruise you'd take, like which area you'd visit?

I think it depends on your preference. If you do not mind the heat and just want to relax then hit the beach at an all-inclusive. I've heard that cruises are pretty hard to do nothing on as you are always somewhere new and there are a million nooks and crannies with things to do on the boat itself (I have never been on a cruise though).

Resorts over cruise. Guests can go around enjoying activities available. Events are in one room dedicated to your wedding.

Cruises are more expensive and flight costs. Not all your gueats can afford to pay that much. It seems great for a honeymoon or family vacation.

I have a friend who is visiting from Newfoundland and can ask if there is a resort there depending which area your going to.

I’m getting married in Newfoundland. We’re debating what to do for our honeymoon so family is not an issue! Although it’s good to know that almost everything is extra on a cruise.

All inclusive all the way! Your guest don’t need to worry about paying for anything when they are at a all inclusive resort. I just went on a cruise and they charge you for almost everything and anything. It’s crazy expensive.
Though it is your decision, your family will be there to celebrate your wedding with you and that’s all that matters

It all depends on which cruise line you decide to go with, what type of cabin you book, what time of year, and what islands you will be visiting. My suggestion is to do some research but also consult a travel agent (maybe one at a cruise ship centre) they will be able to tell you which cruises are in your budget and what costs are included in your vacation.

I thought I had seen a few posts saying that cruises are more expensive but my FH and his family keep arguing that it’s the same or even cheaper than an all inclusive. We definitely need to look into the prices before making our decision!

We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon and my FH and I said we will probably never go to an all-inclusive again because a cruise just blows it all out of the water!

I have been on Carnival Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Disney Cruises. Carnival is my favourite because it has more people in our age group and is so fun! Princess was really nice and upscale but we found it was for an older crowd. I went on the Disney ship when I was a kid and it was amazing, they are super expensive though.

My friend's cousin went to Cuba during the hottest month; and they just stayed on the beach for the week and said they would do it again.

I think it depends what you're looking for. We will be going on our honeymoon in July, also very hot. But, our plan is to just lie on the beach for the week (for the most part!) We aren't interested in doing too many excursions, so the heat won't be a big deal for us.

If you want to do some sightseeing and different activities, a cruise would be fun (from what I hear; I've never actually been on one). Although, depending on where you go for a cruise, it will be hot as well.
