Aisle song

Alexandria, on June 1, 2019 at 19:19 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 8
Hello all,

Need your opinion. I decided I wanted to use the song "a thousand years" by christina perri to walk down the aisle. My question to is should i do it with Lryics or without. There's a beautiful piano and cello version of the song, but I dont know if people will recognize the song without the lyrics. Also the actually song is a bit faster paced I'm finding then the instrumental version.

Thanks
Alex

I used this song for the processional, I did the instrumental version for the wedding party and then switched to the lyrical version when I came down the aisle. It was beautiful and everyone recognized it. There are a few different instrumental versions so you can for sure find one that you really like the tempo of. Even the regular song isn't too fast at all though.

I'm with Julia - as long as you know the song I'm sure it will be fine. If anything they will hear it and either question it or give them that "ahhhh, I love that song" feeling.

The Cello or piano version would be super romantic in my own opinion. You do you babe.

Love this song! This will be our first dance song Smiley heart. I think both options would be great, but if the lyrics are what you love the most then do that.

I don’t think the lyrical version is too fast for the walk. If you prefer the lyrics, go with that. I had a lyrical song and it brings back those memories every time I hear it. My suggestion would be to play it during the rehearsal to figure out timing. I didn’t want the song to end mid sentence, so we figured out I had to start my walk when she started singing so by the time I got to the end of the aisle, the verse had just finished.

I would say go with what your gut tells you to do. It's your day and the important thingnia you know what song it is. A wedding we went to used the instrumental version and I knew exactly what song it was.
