Advice on Getting Ready Robe

Alexandria, on March 31, 2019 at 08:36 Posted in Wedding fashion 0 14
Any advice appreciated!

I am trying to choose a robe to get ready in on my wedding day. There are a few points to consider which is why I am asking for help:

1) Me and my friends are going to do our own makeup so I won’t have nice photos of this. To make up for that I would like to buy a stunning lace robe! But I wonder if it’s lace overkill (see my actual dress with me standing next to my mom)? Should I go for satin instead, even though I’m not as in love with how it looks? Or follow my heart?

2) I do worry that it’s too sexy...because I suppose people will be popping in and out of the hotel room that morning? My grandma for instance doesn’t like when I “look half naked”. Should I scrap the idea and just wear something else? Or buy a slip to cover me up underneath? Also considering we are having our ceremony at 3pm so I would be wearing it for a long time, even if I sleep in that morning till like 10 am.

3) I am considering going the cheap route on the getting ready robe instead, as I see a lot of cheaper short options available. But I worry that I would regret it. The only time in my life to wear a beautiful robe??!! And reuse it on the honeymoon?

The lace robe is stunning! I ordered a robe from “showmeyourmumu” it’s floral and a nice fabric. I’m so excited to wear it.

Love the lace look! I've seen some ladies actually opt for a white tank and short shorts underneath and that looks really cute too.

Get whatever you want and whatever you are comfortable in.

I personally only got the robe for pictures, otherwise I would be in sweats getting ready. If you love the lace one and that's you and that's what you're comfortable in then sorry granny... get it.

Follow your heart - get the robe you want, it's your day, it's your photos. You won't be wearing the wedding dress and robe at the same time, so it doesn't matter if they match (I like that they do!). You could get your mom (or anyone) to get a photo of you getting ready with your girls. Maybe wear a short white nighty under your robe? I like the idea of bringing the robe on the honeymoon!

**DON'T WEAR A BRA THE MORNING OF - you don't want lines in your photos.

That robe is so gorgeous!! I also kind of like that it mimics your dress with the lace.

A slip underneath while you get ready would be perfect to keep grandma happy, and you can wear it on your honeymoon without the slip for your hubby!

Follow your heart and go with lace! I really hate those satin robes and think they're totally overrated. As for what to wear underneath, a slip will look so nice! Is there any way to compromise with your grandma? Will she be getting ready with you the entire time?

A simple slip dress under the lace robe and it would be perfect! I vote to go with whatever you like best!

Hi Alexandria! This lace robe is so beautiful!Smiley love I definitely don't think it will be overkill, as Robyn mentioned, you won't be wearing it with your dress so there is no need to worry about them both being lace.

A slip underneath would be a great idea if you are conscious of different people popping in to see you that morning. It's entirely your decision though so do what you feel comfortable with.

Your dress is beautiful by the way!! Smiley heart

Find more reasons in life to wear a fancy robe!!

Your birthday. Your partner’s birthday. Your anniversary. After a long day at work. On a vacation (oh hi honeymoon!) Oh the possibilities.

I think the lace robe is beautiful but say go with your gut. I’ll be getting ready in a black robe from la vie en rose that purchased to pack on a vacation about 3 years ago.

Hey Alexandria! I love that you're putting so much thought into this! Okay, to answer your first question - ALWAYS FOLLOW YOUR HEART! And really, you aren't wearing the robe with the dress, so I don't think it's overkill at all. Definitely pick lace if that's what you really want.

    2) My robe is also quite sheer, so I am wearing a white slip underneath, which actually improves the look, in my opinion Smiley smile
    3) This is a matter of opinion, but I will definitely wear mine again, so I did feel justified in spending a bit more. As you said, you don't want to regret it if you did end up buying a cheap one. And really how much could a robe, even a nice one, cost? Mine is pretty luxurious, but it didn't break the bank. I'd treat myself, if I were you!
