Advice for an organize wedding planning

I purchased The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner 3 days after getting engaged... I immediately downloaded the Wedding Wire (.ca) app, and made an account. I'm utilizing everything on this site, the budget planner, guest list, RSVP, seating chart, personal website, timeline checklist etc.

Centralize everything. Have a binder or booklet to save all business cards/leaflets you are given when considering vendors, and have a notebook for things those vendors tell you so you remember later, and don't get the information mixed up between them.

Main thing: TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF. Keep your mental, emotional and physical health as your number one priority. You won't be able to plan or manage your time if you are stressed out and high strung! Take time for a bubble bath, movie night with the FH, or whatever else you like to do, to take designated time away from the wedding

Like most others, I have a wedding planner binder that is my holy grail to keeping organized when it comes to timing (when should I be doing/booking something) and costs. I also have a small notebook I take almost everywhere with me to write down things on the go (if I get a call from a vendor randomly) and that keeps track of my own comments while meeting with vendors and whatnot. Lastly, I use Excel spreadsheets for comparing different vendors and keeping track of my guest-list.

I honestly have a book I use for planning, two different websites with checklists plus I create my own checklists at home. I know it seems like a lot of lists but it helped! As for budget stuff, we did everything on the computer so keep it all organized. We have spreadsheets of amounts spent and amounts owing to different vendors, spreadsheet for guests invited with their addresses, and another list for what they RSVP'd and what their meal choice is.

Wedding planners either on this site or a journal, I used the sticky notes (app) on my laptop to keep track of prices for each one I looked at. Took out ones that were over budget or didn't like the style. I started with like 3-5 options each if those 1st few I didn't end up deciding on or hubby and I couldn't agree on together I looked for another 3-5.

I got a little cute notebook and turned it into my wedding planner! I also use a couple apps to help me with costs, estimations, etc

Keep track of everything in any way you can! The tools on here are great as they sync between the web and the app so you can always be in control of stuff.

My invoices are printed & kept in my planning binder, all emails wedding related in its own "inbox" etc.

im also partly at ease knowing the last things i have to are "small things"- mailing invitations, guest favours, and organizing things for the day of.

get a planner!! this turned out to be THE best thing I ever did, because my planner has been there for me for everything!

It is really hard to stay organized. Before doing anything, take a deep breathe.

Once you have your major vendor booked, you'll feel much better (Venue, Officiant, DJ, Florist, Photographer). Then you can focus on your secondary vendors like, hair/makeup, wedding attire and decorator (if you're hiring one).

I find the check list on wedding wire is really helpful, but to manage my budget I use a Google Doc actually! There's one that is set up for wedding planning and has a tab for budget (budgeted versus actual spend) and a tab for each of your main things/vendors where you can make notes.

Firstly: get a binder or folder to keep all your documents safe and handy.

Second: if your multitasking vendors, keep a book seperate for whom your talking to and price wise. Go back and compare to see what is the best deal you two are happy with. Review them online to if there are more positives than negative feedbacks.

Third: dedicate a room or space that will have your wedding items kept together and make a checklist to seperate wedding from reception and guest favours.

Fourth: prepare a timeline and song list for the day so that the photographer and videographer will have an idea of whats happening throughout the day. Also your guest list, seating plan and meals towards the timeframe requested by the venue to know keep them informed. One thing i dod when putting my seating plan together was to let them know how many kids and where seated and for vegetarians seated at what tables too. Put the name and meal choice is how i got to make it easy.

Last: make sure when loading the vehicle, there is nothing left behind and smile on your day.

View quoted message I’d focus on the important ones first - photographer being one of the main ones. There are so many out there but all vary in style. I’d focus on the way the photos were shot; does it portray what you want? Does it feel to staged? Do the couples look comfortable? What do I get out of a package? Meet as many as you want and ask tons of questions! Same goes for videographer.

Start pinnning or creating a dream board of what you have invisioned. The timeline on here is pretty accurate and definitely help motivate!

We're waiting for my SO's church to send his baptism certificate if he has one. So while we wait I've been looking and trying to book other things for the wedding like dj, photographer and videographer but i feel like I'm all pver the place.

Definitely take advantage of the app. I’ve also filed out my day planner and created a checklist (thanks Pinterest). Have you picked a venue yet? When’s the wedding?
