I use a ring adjuster to make my ring fit when my fingers are smaller than other times. It's fairly cheap and versatile. I just don't know how that would work with your FH's knuckles hmmmm

I'm not sure exactly how they work, I think they're spring loaded so they compress when going over the knuckle then expand once in place on the finger.

You can get a special “pilot” ring online that snaps open and closed.

You can get a spring loaded ring sizer - something like this (click for link):

I'm sure you could talk to a jeweler about having an adjustable ring made. Have you ever looked into silicone rings? I know you're looking for gold but they do have some really nice silicone rings out there.
