Acne Prone Skin

Kayla, on January 28, 2019 at 01:47 Posted in Beauty 0 13
My wedding is just over a year out! What types of things did you ladies do to prep your skin for the big day. I notoriously have acne prone skin and would like to know what some people have done to have clear skin for their big day!

I started with a facial from my dermatologist and then asked her what I should be doing to keep my skin clear. That way she had seen exactly what my skin is like and where I breakout and we went from there. She was able to recommend a bunch of products. My skin has gotten a lot better but stress can definitely be a problem for it. So I'm hoping starting early will help!

The no-dairy is a great tip! I find that that seriously affects people the most who are prone to acne.

I am the same as Katrin. I eat a whole food, plant based diet. So essentially vegan but with minimal to no processed food. I know it’s not for everyone, but it cleared up my skin wonderfully. And I pretty much stick to water as well. No pop, juice or anything like that.

Eating a plant based (vegan) diet really helped clear my skin up. Hardly get anything on my face now unless its my time of the month. Also drinking lots of water!

Ugh I LOVE their Tea Tree line and am so jealous you worked there! I also use a Rocky Mountain Soap Co. mask a couple times a week and find it helps.

I usually break out during that lovely time of the month. I use Body Shop's Tea Tree line. A daily scrub and then tone and moisturize. I used to work for the Body Shop so I have a ton of products that I use in combination that I have found to help.

Lots of water works as well. Along with not touching my face. I used to pick at anything and have learned to just leave it be!

Every other day I scrub my face with a mixture of baking soda and vitamin e oil.

On Sunday’s I try to use a mask.

I also tone with witch hazel after ever face wash.

I find for me, no dairy also helps keeps my skin clear. I also switch up the pillow cases since that's a factor for both my FH and I.

I use a daily scrub cleanser (St Ive's) and a toner as well (lancome) and moisturize daily (fresh, deep hydrating rose scent).

Once to twice a week I use a charcoal mask (Biore).

I have combination skin, I find it's drier in the winter so some days I skip the toner and in the summer I can skip moisturizing some days when it's more humid. My skin also can feel more dry/oily depending on the day/where I am in my cycle so I adjust the toner/moisturizer use as needed.

I find that when my eating is clean (no sweets, lots of water, heavy on the fruits and vegetables), my skin tends to stay clearer. I like to change my pillowcases frequently and I don’t touch my face a lot. As for products, I use Clinique for my skincare and it’s been good to me. Although recently I changed out my toner to Biotherm Skin Oxygen and introduced a daily scrub (La Roche-Posay Ultrafine Scrub) and I found that those two products have helped a lot.

FYI, I have very acne-prone skin.

Although I have never had acne - my plan (because I don't do it everyday right now... I'm a slacker...) is to use clean & clear in the morning and before bed. I only use step #1 though.

    Acne Prone Skin 1

The foaming facial cleanser makes my face feel super clean but if I try using the step #2 (astringent) then it dries my skin up way too much. Usually step #3 (moisturizer) would take care of that but for my skin it turns the way too dry skin into way to oily skin...

It all really depends on what your skin needs and what you are used to. Whatever it is that you decide to try/ go for - as I'm sure you know, just make sure you try it out now rather than waiting until a couple months before the wedding. It could always irritate your skin and make it worse.
