Accepted ids in Ontario For Marriage License

Andrea, on October 16, 2018 at 20:45 Posted in Ontario 0 6

Hi everyone, I was wondering if "statements of Live Birth Certificates" are accepted forms of IDS for the marriage license. I already have my driver's license, but I've never had a passport, and I've lost my birth certificate. Can I use it? Would love to know in advance.

I know our health cards are iffy since an agency outside of healthcare cannot out right ask for it but depending on the person, it is sometimes accepted. A SIN card might work since it is government issued and you only need one piece with a photo.

I know where I am in Ontario drivers license and health card is fine. My FH doesnt have a driver's license so the Ontario photo ID card and health card will work.

Here's the link for getting married in Ontario: Getting Married in Ontario

There's a section about How to get a Marriage License that tells you some examples of ID

You need 2 pieces each, and as long as one has your photo, your second can be any government issued ID. If a statement of live birth is government issued, you should be able to use it.

You can contact your local municipal office too if you are unsure

If you go online where it has all the information about applying and getting the marriage license it will have a list of accepted IDs.

In Alberta, we only needed photo ID. It does vary province by province though but I think a driver's licence should be good enough.
