a small wedding to a smaller wedding

Candice, on February 6, 2021 at 18:20 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 7
Hey all, we were all ready to get married on April 4 2020. Then 3 weeks before we got the call and it was canceled. Then we rescheduled it for Dec 5. But I pulled the plug before they could, because we have a few older guests that wouldn't come due to covid. Now we are scheduled for Dec 4 21 and we have 50 people on the list, but I think I want to do something even smaller (25 ppl max)before hand and push my reception to 2022. My question is... is that odd? Because it such a small wedding to start with. But I want to be able to hug people, take photos with people and take the mask off. I feel like Covid has just completed turned me 180 in what I thought I wanted in my wedding day.. I'm just so confused.

Your thoughts of pushing the guest list lower is fine to make yourselves feel better due to the times. Plus you have the reception celebrations for the year after set which all your guests can be present to celebrate your anniversary. Its not odd, just right to you both as you see fit.

We had about 20 people and I was really happy we downsized. We only had our wedding party and immediate family. We were able to spend time with everyone there and because it was our closest friends and family there was a lot less stress and pressure.

I'm doing exactly what you are. I had a 50 person wedding planed. And I'm down to 25 now. Were probably going to push the reception till a date when covid isn't a big thing

I think it's totally understandable and normal that your priorities have changed due to covid. A lot of people are realizing having a big wedding isn't as important to them anymore and they just want to celebrate with the people closest to them. If you want a super small, intimate wedding then that's what you should do.

I wouldn't totally discount this December for a 25 person wedding though. I think that's totally within the realm of being possible especially if everyone is vaccinated.

Is Dec 4, 2021 also off the table now?

Thanks! I think I needed to hear that. We don't have a date anymore, I feel like this past year we have discussed almost every date on the calendar to make it work with our schedule.

Not odd at all and considering how things are so up in the air with the vaccine roll out and new strains, it makes sense to go even smaller as a precaution, especially if you want to get married on your date instead of postponing.
