Hey ladies ! Just wondering how everyone is feeling about their 2021 weddings with 50+ guests ? It seems the cases are going back up again and that my guest list is too large ... but hoping I won’t have to postpone. How is everyone else feeling ?

It's way too early to be bugging your venue about rules that may change and therefore be irrelevant by the time your wedding comes along. I would just ask what your options are in the event of a government mandated shut down (as it is now for you since BC closed all banquet halls).

We haven't invited anyone yet. We've held off on any invites when lockdown happened and monitored the province on what numbers are allowed in each phase. Unless things go to hell again and we're back at 10 people or less, we just decided on 50 of the closest family and friends. No plus ones, no children.

We are indoors at the Cambridge Mill in Ontario. The maximum number our room can hold is 150, so I imagine when accounting for social distancing indoors we will be at 50 if not less

I’m getting married February 2021 and am definitely feeling the covid stress now. We had originally planned for 150 but I’m thinking it might be 50 people or less now.... we don’t want to postpone though.

We figured the second wave was inevitable and will likely push to March 2021. We've been mentally preparing and anticipating a max of 50 so we won't go through the stress of hoping for more.

I don't think BC will increase the gathering limit from 50 until we have a vaccine or some other method to control the virus in a widespread fashion. That could happen in the first half of 2021 (I see you have a July wedding date), but that would be absolute best case scenario and I'm not counting on restrictions being lifted until late 2021 or 2022.

I think especially with the recent surge of cases in BC and children going back to school, we are going to see an even bigger increase in cases and possibly further restrictions. I also think there are going to be more clusters associated with weddings over the next few weeks/months as so many people postponed their spring/summer weddings to the fall/winter and we are going to have more large gatherings in the coming weeks/months. For example, my wedding is in November (we're having less than 15 people total, including vendors.) At the beginning of the year only 15 or 16 other couples on WW were getting married on the same day in my area. Now there are 26 other couples - and November is a super slow month for weddings. As I'm sure you know, banquet halls have just been ordered to close in BC and I wouldn't be surprised if this gets extended to other types of wedding venues as there have been a few notable outbreaks in Canada and the US due to weddings.

Essentially, I don't think anything is certain and I'm expecting more cases and restrictions. If you're having an outdoor wedding or something on private property you might be okay with 50 people in July 2021, but if I were in your position I'd have a backup plan and I would certainly not plan on having more than 50 people.

Our wedding is November 2021 and our wedding is already an intimate affair with 77 people so if need be, our indoor events COVID restrictions in MB are 50 max, so at worse we cut 27 people, but of course we’re hoping for the best.

I'm nervous... we're inviting over 300 and we can't cut ours down (too many people would get offended and the drama would ensue). So if we can't do it, we will just do it with immediate family and move on - there is so much stress!

My heart is with all 2020, 2021 brides! Who knew this would happen..
