Jessica, on February 10, 2017 at 21:41 Posted in Plan a wedding 0 14
We have a total of 6 girls, and 6 guys However I have 2 MOH, and he has 1 Best Man. Has anyone been in an uneven situation before? Also how did you figure out the duties for the MOH!? Any ideas Smiley smile

I have exactly the same situation. I plan to have all the guys walk out solo, my FH escorting his mom and my mom, followed by the bridesmaids. They worked so hard, they deserve a moment in the spotlight to themselves.

I met with both my MOH's and gave the their MOH "proposals" at the same time, then we immediately had a planning meeting haha! They work well together and both told me they appreciated having a 2nd MOH to help with the duties because neither of them had done it before.

On the day of the wedding, I think I will just have them alternate single "MOH" duties. Ex: 1 stands right beside me at the alter and is the witness, the other sits beside me at dinner, etc.

In terms of speeches, we will have each MOH do a speech, the Best Man, and one of the groomsmen who's great at speech giving.

That's exactly what we were thinking. But I'll have the 2 MOH walk out together.

That's my main concern, well not concern... but I definately would not want one to feel favoured. I was thinking that Smiley smile for the ceremony and reception! I'm sure they would all help plan things as a group since they all know one another! Thank you for the advice

For our ceremony the groom and groomsmen will just start at the front and only the BMs (and MOH and me) walk the aisle. Could be another way to handle the uneven-ness

Hum, if you choose to do couple photo.. maybe have the last two GM support and walk out with the last bridesmaid! Where as with me.. I'll have that PLUS the 2 maid of honours with the 1 best man. Good luck! Let me know if you figure out any other ideas for the uneven-ness lol

Hi! We have an uneven wedding party and what is stressing me more is how the pictures will turn out :/ I have only one more BM than he do but still.. What i've thought about is taking only pictures when we are all mix together instead of the typical boys on one side and girls on the other so he doesnt show TOO intense. I dont know if this helps you? Also I will make girls come in together at the ceremony and guys together instead of couples..!

Hey Jessica! I'm so happy to read you in here! Like Valerie and Sam commented, I think it's perfectly fine and I think that it's an amazing idea to have two MOHs Smiley smile Who are they? Are they members of your family? You can take a look at this article for ideas of MOH duties: The Ultimate Maid of Honour Duties Checklist As for signing the licence, they could both be required to sign it or only one of the two. Your officiant will be able to provide you with more information. Did you already choose someone to officiate your wedding? Smiley smile

Okay thank you for all the support brides! What about for the witness? Can more than 1 sign it? Or does it just have to be one of the girls?

It's totally fine to have uneven sides! I had 5 bridesmaids and my husband had one groomsman. We ended up having two of my sisters stand on my husband's side during the ceremony and it was really nice because it symbolized the joining of our two families and they could actually see me during the ceremony.

For dividing up duties, I'd let them work that out amongst themselves. They can both help plan your shower and bach party or one could head up the shower and the other could take charge of the bach party. (Unless you have other people who want to plan them for you) You could have one stand next to you during the ceremony and then the other one could sit next to you at the head table for the reception so it's fair. That would be my only concern about having 2 MOHs, is making sure not to favor one over the other. Other than that, you'll mainly be doing everything yourself anyways and hopefully ALL of your bridesmaids are supporting you and lending a helping hand if needed, not just the MOHs.

It's totally ok to be uneven. I have 1 MOH and we have no BM. It's been just fine. Also for "duties" you shouldn't expect much from them. My MOH mainly just listens when I have crazy panicked moments and she's coming to my fittings to learn how to tie my corset and organizing my Bachelorette. But none of these things were ASSIGNED to her, I just asked what she'd like to be a part of and she offered to throw the shower and Bach (I declined the shower though... logistical nightmare with my guest list, not worth the effort). I made a Facebook group for just the bridesmaids (and MOH) so that they can connect and if I need something (like my venue wants the number of someone other than me for day of questions) I just post and ask if anyone would like to help, if not, I figure it out. It's worked great for me so far!
