Wondering about a wedding registry

I had monetary as any indian wedding would be. I put the phrase as Alexandra mentioned in her response at the bottom of our invitation NO BOXED GIFTS PLEASE. This way, all the guests it was clear and concise.

Oh that is sweet. It is also well said. I didn't know what to say without coming across as someone asking for money. Just asking my parents if they wanted to participate without making it sound like I needed their money to have the wedding turned out awkward. Thanks for the images!

I was thinking of putting a table that has some space for gifts at the entrance. It isn't the end of the world of course if people bring gifts.

That is lucky. Everyone that I've talked to so far in my family expected to give a present but at least they asked first and I told them that we rather money because it's more practical.

If people ask before the wedding just say that you'd prefer cash gifts and that the money will be going towards the honeymoon (even if it WON'T be, people like to know what their contribution is for).

No registry for us and nothing on our invites about gifts. In our cultures money is the standard gift so we're lucky on that account.

We’re just going to not have a registry. Most people should take the hint that we don’t want boxed gifts that way. And the people who do bring boxed gifts were probably the people who were going to no matter what we did

I've seen cute poems online that you could always put on your invitation! Just a polite way to let people know you have everything that you need and are perhaps trying to save up for a honeymoon!
