Winter Venue Colors?

Zara, on November 4, 2021 at 16:49 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9

Hi everyone, after postponing twice and having to find a new venue because of problems with my previous location, I am planning my event again! I am excited as it is in two months. Do you have any suggestions for venue decor for winter weddings? The hall is modern and white. I sort of want to do clear chairs, black cloth and red centrepieces with gold stand for the tables and for bridal table, using white centrepieces and flowers. I don't know if black cloths will be too dark for a wedding. I am so lost! HELP Smiley laugh

We are having a winter wedding and our colours are black, gold, and burgundy. I don’t think black is too dark, it’s totally your choice! Our bridesmaids and groomsmen are even wearing black and I think it’s going to look great!

I think this falls down to some personal choice. I LOVE the idea you’re presenting, and seeing your venue photo- it would make an incredibly bold and beautiful contrast. That being said, I love bold! But not everyone is a fan.
If you like the bold look, your idea sounds fabulous! If you’re unsure, or would like to err on the more neutral side, I think silvers or matte golds would also look beautiful and really encompass that winter vibe! You could still bring in those red flowers with those choices too!
I personally am having all black table cloths at my wedding, so, I might be a bit bias….lol… but I love the dark look 😀

We had dark brown tablecloths and it definitely didn't feel too dark because our venue's wall were all white.

I think the decor as you described sounds very elegant and classic

With that setup and lighting, I would go for silver. You can make a winter wonderland vibe with it. And silver is neutral enough that you can use any accent colour and it won't clash.

That is what I fear as well with the black and red being too much of a contract against a white wall. I am a very neutral person so I don't want to regret going too bold. This will be the venue.

We had black chairs and dark grey table clothes with black napkins and gold charger plates. We tested black table cloths but it was too much black... This was a good happy medium. Our tables for gifts, escort cards, etc had black table cloths. We loved it. Personally I find black gives an elegant vibe but it was also NYE (originally) so our colours were black, silver, and gold, with greenery.
Not sure if this picture helps.

Black items in a white room, especially if the lights are white instead of amber/yellow, will make for a stark contrast. It's great if you like that look but for some people, it comes off as being a bit cold. I think it can look great and really accentuate the cold winter vibe but overly religious or superstitious folk may not be a fan of it. If your parents/immediate families fall into that category, they may give you flack for it. Of course, it's your day and you do what you want but personally I would want to avoid family nagging me about such details if I'm planning a wedding in two months.

Do you have photos of the venue?
