Hey gals (and guys)!

For those of you who’ve chosen to host your wedding in Ontario, what was your decision behind it? Is it where you live, grew up, or have some other significance?

I’d love to hear if the stunning scenery, breathtaking waterfalls, or home of Canada’s largest city had something to do with it! Destination weddings are tempting, so why stay here?

I'm excited to hear what you all have to say!

That's a shame that you had so many obstacles dictating what wedding location options were out, but so good that you get to do it in the place you both love! Is Windsor really that close to Detroit? I've never been so I didn't realize that the skyline was that visible.

I'm assuming there was no overseas honeymoon asap then? LOL.

I loveeee the waterfront at Innisfil! I had a friend who lived pretty close to the water up there, so it was a treat going up to visit! It's nice since it's not super far for anyone either, very reasonable.

Aw did he propose in front of the falls? Anywhere down there (with the falls or not) would have been lovely!

I really like how you want to be so inclusive of everyone. That's my main reason too for staying so local!

We are both from Ontario. We grew up in Southern Ontario, which is where all of our family still lives, but now live in Northern Ontario, which is where we met and bought a house. When we started looking at venues we decided that the location did not matter, we were more focused on the venue itself.

The venue that we chose is in Niagara Falls, which is 5.5 hours from where we live and about an hour from most of our family. We thought it kind worked out that everyone has to travel, so one person can't complain more than another. Niagara also has a lot of positive memories for us, as it was the most common place for us to go for a weekend away together. All of our family loved the idea of using our weekend as an excuse to have a weekend "away".

We talked destination. but we can't FH's dad on a plane (HUGE phobia). we talked a cruise (dad would drive to get on it). but my aunt and cousin (who are like my mom and sister) won't get on a boat.
so said...lets just do it. having it in Windsor. FH is from here. I've lived here for 8 years (and just LOVE my city). there is nothing spectacular about our reception hall (just a typical hall). our ceremony space is awesome. its an old court house. built in 1855. its BEAUTIFUL. We are also HUGE Detroit sports fans. so we are able to get some awesome Detroit skyline photos (i'm also a huge water/skyline photo fan).

and it was affordable. Windsor business's are so good about supporting local. and doing right by each other.

My husband and I live in Alliston in the north. And we chose Innisfil beacause of the waterfront view foe one.

Second, our families are in east and west ends (immediate & second) being locals. The views and scenery of the venue had activities for the whole family to enjoy plus the campfire in the night.

Lastly, the cost kept us lower and our passports were expired as bad as it sounds LOL.

We chose Ontario because that's where be both live. We were born here and wanted to make sure all our friends and family are able to come. We also got engaged in Niagara falls so it was fitting that we stay here versus doing a destination wedding. We went to one 2 years ago and we both said we would much rather do it in our home provice/country.

That's amazing! I'm super jealous of you since a good 30% of our guests are from out of town lol.

Do both your families live in or around your town? I love local weddings since it's familiar (hence why ours is taking place literally 10 minutes from our home lol).

We stayed as it is closest to family and friends! We met here, we got engaged here, and going to our home church was hugely important to us!
