Are you looking to hire a specialty cake baker to make your wedding cake? Or does your caterer provide a cake as part of their offering?

Who is baking the cake?

I’m thinking of having a donut tower instead of a cake.

My mother and I took a few cake decorating classes at Michaels. We can make a pretty small cake and cupcakes on our own. I have the plan down. Kept it simple. It will be perfect.

We're having a small cutting cake and cupcakes made by a local baker.

Originally, my sister, who is a trained chef, offered to do it, but she has two kids under the age of three at the time of the wedding and is MOH. She wouldn't have time to set it up before the wedding (getting ready) or in between the ceremony and reception (photos, etc), so we agreed it would be better her sanity not try and cram doing that in.

Looking to book a specialty cake maker. We’ve already booked gluten free caterers and now we’re trying to find a gluten free wedding cake as well.

I'm considering skipping the cake altogether as our catering package includes more fun desserts (tiny Tom's, funnel cake, beaver tails, etc.). Neither one of us like cake and we aren't into the tradition of saving the top tier for our 1st anniversary (we just find storing cake in the freezer for a year and then eating it REALLY gross - thats just us, would never judge anyone else who is planning in doing it - totally get the sentiment). I might just get my cousin who does creative cakes as a hobby to make us two custom cupcakes and do the traditional 'cake feeding' with them. The prices for cakes in Toronto are astronomical!!!

Our venue has cake for dessert with our meal so we opted to do mini cupcakes for the sweet table and a small 6” cake that we will cut later in the evening

We spent a lot of time looking for a baker who would do an affordable but beautiful cake and could do a gluten free tier, and finally found Cake Creations by Michelle. She is an amazing baker/decorator and we're so excited!!

My Mom and my Moms BF from B.C whom I've always called Aunt are making our Wedding Cake. My Mom has been busy making test cakes. Ours will be a white cake with coconut with a lemon filling. Yummy!

My fiance's mom is a baker so we're hoping she will. He hasn't asked her yet though... We're still ages away but I should probably give him a deadline, lol

We hired it out to a baker, she's an entrepreneur who's been in business for a few years, but it's just her and her dad helping her out. I had a specific vision and when I started talking to her, and showed her my inspiration photo, she got super excited about it!

We're doing a single tier "cutting cake" with a cupcake "tower" to resemble a peacock's tail:

When meeting with our caterer, I mentioned I don't care about a cake at my wedding (we're doing cupcakes). My FH wants the "cutting of the cake" photo (we didn't know until this point that we had different views about the wedding cake). My caterer is making us a small cake, and at no extra cost (I think it's because she thinks it's odd to not have a wedding cake). Since, I have now found the prefect cake topper for us, and glad we have a spot to show case it!

Part of my job is helping individuals start their own small business. I have a client who is a commercial baker and her stuff is amazing. I will be asking her to do our cake! Just a small one for us to eat the night of and then prob save the rest

My sister is making mine - all in, our cake and cupcakes for 250 guests should cost around 200$ including all decorations. Plus it is meaningful to me that it's my sister (who is learning how to decorate just for this!)

We’ll be buying a multi tiered cake from a cake shop, haven’t decided where though. I love baking and I wish I could be someone who had the talent to bake my own wedding cake but my decorating skills are not that seasoned.

We will be buying a single tier cake. I'm thinking it will be plain except for the cake topper so it doesn't really matter too much as to where we get it. Probably wherever is cheapest.

We’re not planning on having a cake bc we’re having a brunch reception, but I suspect my mother and aunties will “surprise” us with a Guyanese black cake at the welcome dinner/Kwe Kwe.🤤🤤🤤
