Who was told first?

Cheryl, on November 7, 2016 at 11:31 Posted in Before the wedding 0 7
I'm curious as who knew about the engagement first. For us it was very close friends, then he's told his mom and his dad is next. My dad will be after and my mother last before all the guests. What order did you tell them in?

He'll be asking for his blessing right after he tells his own dad! I can't wait to hear the reactions myself Definitely shocked yet super happy for us!! I'm not planning one but I'm sure someone will want one.

So my FH has asked my dad & step-mom for permission so they had known about it and same with my mom & step-dad... my FH wanted to respect everyone so asked both sets of my parents for permission! They knew it was going to happen but not when it was going to happen!!! I tried calling my dad first to tell him but he was out at the time so I had told my step-mom but told her to keep it hidden from my dad until he called me back! Then I told my mom & step-dad, my grandma, my nanny, aunts and uncles, cousins so all my family (I have a lot since my parents are divorced and re-married!) I then told my closest friends and then the next day I made a public fb announcement for everyone else to see! Smiley smile

My mom knew because she helped plan it. His mom knew too because he wanted to give her a heads up. The first person I called was my sister and I remember calling her and her being like "Oh yeah I heard that Collin flew out to surprise you, that's so sweet" and I had to be like "No he didn't just fly out as a surprise! He also proposed!" She was shocked and so excited for us! (Here's the full proposal story so it makes more sense. https://community.weddingwire.ca/forums/proposal-stories--t1022

We told family and close friends immediately (we didn't want them finding out on social media or through someone else, FMIL actually posted the pic we sent her privately online immediately before most of my family knew and I wanted to scream at her! FH and I were furious!). Then maybe a week or 2 later we posted it on social media to tell the rest of our friends

I told my friend first, because FH had told her his plan, so he said she was dying to hear as soon as it happened. The same with Fh's parents...they knew it was going to happen, so he sent news right away, as they were overseas when he proposed.

After that it was quite late at night, so we didn't start making calls until morning. I called my mom and dad, my sister and then close friends.
