Where to Honeymoon? Which resort are you going to & how did you decide?

Julie, on January 18, 2019 at 09:13 Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
We are looking for a 1 week all inclusive honeymoon. Adult only, 2 person jacuzzi, king sz bed, somewhere warm, clean & caters to honeymooners and on a budget. I have been communicating with several travel agents and have been given many suggestions. I'd love to be able to look at link and see where you are going! This is so exciting! I'd like to book ours asap so its booked and we have a plan. Right now we have a limo picking us up at our Wedding venue but we don't know where the limo will be taking us yet.

Those both sound awesome! We’ve been to Cancun and loved it! The people are nice, it’s close, clean, and beautiful. I also was looking at the Karisma resorts for my honeymoon (before we decided on destination).

The only concern I’d have if I were you would be the weather. I know online it says that Cancun is around 29 C in March, but that’s the high. We went once in October when the high was supposed to be 31 C and it wasn’t hot-hot.

    Hi Bianca,
Our travel agent has 2 top resorts for us. They are both adult only, all inclusive, 5 star, king bed, balcony, 2 person jacuzzi, swim up room, 24 room service, stocked mini bar etc. 1 has a beautiful ocean front and the other has terrible reviews about seaweed and just not a place to go if you're looking for a nice ocean front. 1 which is top runner is Secrets in Cancun and the 2nd is El Dorado seaside by Karisma.

It IS a big decision! It's a once-in-a-lifetime trip to mark the beginning of marriage! Those seem like reasonable terms that you and your FH have and I think it should definitely be attainable.

Which resorts have your travel agent suggested? I'm thinking that Jamaica would fit everything you want. My mom went to a Riu down there in March last year and didn't pay too much and LOVED it!

We looked at Sandals resorts but they are not in our budget. If you say your budget is 4 Grand, I find some agents send resorts for 5 Grand. We are busy looking up reviews. We loved a Karisma resort called el Dorado seaside but after reading many reviews the big complaint is a not so nice ocean front full of seaweed.

    Hi Bianca,
We are hoping to go somewhere warm for 8 days. Our budget started at $3000.00 but we couldn't find what we wanted in that price range. We would like an adults only 5 star resort. We went to see a travel agent today which was exciting! I am just too overwhelmed with all the emails I'm getting about different resorts. Talking to an agent who has been to some of the places shes suggests is helpful. My big want is a jacuzzi suite and FHs is a balcony. We would prefer not to go to Cuba or Domincan. It's such a big decision.

Hey Julie, do you mind if I ask what your budget is and for how many days?

For FH and I, we wanted to find a place that a) we haven't been to before, b) was within our price range, and c) was out of hurricane risks (since August is hurricane season in the Caribbean). We're 100% sure we're going to be booking our honeymoon in Aruba, but we just need to decide on the resort now. It's literally misses all the hurricanes, so it was our only guraneteed place for good weather down south (without getting into South America).

Our Honeymoon was exciting! Last year after the wedding in June we flew to Spain, Barcelona! We booked Bridal suite in 5* Hotel for 2 weeks (booked on this website - https://hotelfriend.com/p/wellness ). Wellness & Spa resort was our best choice ever! We had a rest at the hotel's own wellness area with sauna, steam bath, and a solarium! Also, as we like active outdoor pastime the hotel offered us such activities as a bike\car rental and cycling\walking city tours. It was a wonderful trip!

The honeymoon was one of my favourite parts of planning. Love looking at vacations. I keep telling myself that the honeymoon is my reward for having planned this whole thing on my own haha!
We will be going for a week to Puerto Plata to an all inclusive adults only resort. We had done a lot of research for it and just like you, we are on a budget. The resort had amazing reviews on Tripadvisor and seemed really nice. When it came to our tie-breaker (our other choice was a resort in Cuba), we chose this one because food tends to be hit or miss in Cuba and this resort we were garanteed a big bed rather than 2 singles. They also cater to honeymooners with special promos! Here is the link: https://bluebayvillasdoradas.bluebayhotels.net/en/

I have to email our travel agent today and see what is out there in our price range.

FH really wants to go for 2 weeks... totally ok with this as he has agreed to pay for it! We have been to Cuba (Memories Flamenco), and Jamaica (Riu Reggae). Completely recommend Riu in Jamaica, they are great and have 2 adults only resorts.

We are looking into Punta Cana or Mexico this time around

I have definitely heard good things about Sandal's resorts!

We are doing a cruise, but if you are looking for adults only, a resort would probably be your best bet.

That's so exciting to be looking into!! I haven't started looking just yet - we don't even know when we will be taking our honeymoon (I might be in school and he may be teaching a course) but my ideas right now are basically a Sandal's resort, or a cruise.
