Where does the officiant stand in a covid ceremony??

I have a bit of a logistical question for anyone who has gotten married this year (post-COVID).

What did your ceremony look like in terms of physical distancing, specifically with your officiant? Did your officiant stand in the middle but 2 metres away from you and your partner, or did they stand sort of off to the side, or some other configuration?

I'm thinking we are going to have an arbour/arch and I'm not sure what will look best and make the most sense. Any thoughts? If you have photos for reference that would be very helpful too!

    I would imagine 2 feet distance being the normal in front or between you two would be standard. It would make sense if you both are facing each other to have the Officiant stand ahead in a U shape.

    My officiant and I work together and all our guests are part of our bubble so our ceremony was pretty normal. She was maybe 4 feet behind us, and our guests were about 6-8 feet away from us (mostly for the photographer to have room to move around). We were outdoors so that made it easier to be maskless as well.


    If our officiant were a stranger I would have probably asked for a mask or a face shield with at least 4 feet of space.

    We had our ceremony in the church. He was in the middle of my his husband and I. We were the only 3 not wearing a mask and our bridal party wasn’t also. We only had a floral arch at our outdoor wedding as a back drop and for pictures before. Everyone maintained distance except for my husband and I obviously lol
