When to have an engagement party?

I would do it nowish. or next summer and then narrow down a month and year so at ur engagement party you can announce ur timing!

I would say to have it within the first year - after that you may feel like you missed you chance since the excitement will be gone and it wouldn't be news to anybody.

I waited about 3 months and felt like even that was too long and just didn't feel comfortable having one after that.

I agree with Chelsea. We didn't have an engagement party, but if we were it would have been a couple months after we got engaged.

You are celebrating your engagement! I would say do it within the first year of being engaged, especially if your wedding isn't for a couple years. Its a great way to get both families together before all the planning starts

It depends on what you want! You could have it now, since you are engaged and want to celebrate it or wait until you have a date set. People will probably ask about your date at your engagement party, so that might be something you want to consider.

I would wait until you have a date set and throw the party a year before the wedding. This is just my opinion, I like the idea of having an engagement party since it brings both families together and you get to celebrate you and your FH with a smaller more intimate crowd if you are having a bigger wedding.
