When is a good time to open the Candy Table?

Mo, on August 16, 2021 at 00:46 Posted in Wedding reception 0 11

Hi everyone, I am planning to have a Candy Table for our wedding. We plan to have the ceremony and wedding all in one place. I just don't know if it's customary to have the Candy table open from the beginning of the Ceremony or should I have it set up after dinner? It's a small wedding with mostly adults and only 3 young children.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Hank, Thank you for your reply. Good Point! And..actually because of covid and safety measures we decided to also offer favors to our guests. So not only do they get a box with candies but they also can pick from a variety of prewrapped candies.

Hi Rayanne, Thank you for your reply. I think setting it up beforehand is a good plan. On the main day you have enough to think about. Smiley smile

We will have to set ours up before hand. We are lucky that there is a smaller room where they will have the late night snack, cake and our candy table. We can add it too announcements. My friend had hers set up the night before in the same room as her reception no one touched it until after dinner.

I would have staff set it up during dinner so people don't spoil their appetite with sugar before dinner. You can also consider it your favour when people leave with it.

Point taken for knowing it will be eaten. I know the sign won't help either as it won't be watched by others the whole time. The staff can help by placing plastic wrap on all the candy dishes and a table cloth so no one can touch it until the cloth and plastic are removed and ready for guests to head over.

Thank you for your reply. If the candy table is set up ahead of time, do you think people will fill up on candy before dinner? I can't really tell them not to touch the candy once it's out. Or should I ask the Hotel staff to put out the candy once the dinner has been served?

Also, there are literally 3 kids coming as most parents decided to find a sitter in order to stay longer.

In that case I'd see if someone can set it up while guests are having dinner.

The set up for the candy bar can be set ahead of time along with your table set up and décor. The time for the dessert table to serve would be best after dinner as you don't want your guests and kids filled up on sweets and not fed properly. A good way to let your guests know the candy table time will be open is having a menu card per table and what is being served for dinner. We did this as it did help all our family and friends to not have to make an announcement and reading the card itself to be aware.

My friend had a candy table and it was set up before the reception. Will your ceremony and reception be in the same soon? Or different spaces?
