What style of reception are you having?

Sheilah, on June 20, 2018 at 01:29 Posted in Wedding reception 0 24
What style of reception are you having? Brunch, BBQ, cocktail, etc? Evening, morning, mid afternoon? Rustic, vintage, black tie, etc?

We went back and forth for a while between a nice brunch reception or a big backyard BBQ. We finally chose a nice, 11 am brunch reception. We're going with a laid back, fun, vintage type feel. We're having a nice like pink, turquoise and then a latte and mocha mix in there. And a HUGE brunch buffet with pancakes, coffe, fruit, bagels, everything! Coffee beans and tea cups EVERYWHERE!! 😍

Evening ballroom. Formal. I’m so excited. It’s nice to have everyone dress up that you don’t always get too see like that.

We are doing a sit down formal dinner, but no black tie! My FH is a huge foodie and wanted a special dinner. Then of course a party after 😊

Sit down formal dinner, not black tie though! We're also having a chocolate fountain brought in later and some sort of late-night snack (i.e. poutine bar)!

We are having ours at a local resort in my town. It has beach front access (where the ceremony is), horses, ducks, a big creek with a bridge which is absolutely beautiful and cabins for accommodation. the area where the actual reception is towards the back of the property by their campground. There's a huge field right in between the campground and the dock pond, horses, and creek where we will put our tents.

We willhave lawn games set up in the campground, a taco bar that we are self catering, and campfires going as long as we are without a fire ban! The tents themselves will be quite formal and we want everyone to dress formal, but the atmosphere will be quite relaxed as a whole.

    Dinner! Evening! Formal! Winter! Yay...

Ceremony is at 4.30pm, dinner at 6pm, all evening, all a little fancy. I'm so excited.

I love the big brunch idea... I'm hoping to incorporate that instead into the bridal shower Smiley smile

    Your venue sounds gorgeous!

I love the idea of everything being over by 3. That's my goal, too. Then we get the rest of the day to do whatever we like as NEWLYWEDS!!!! 😁😍

Brunch is awesome! My friend had a brunch wedding a few years ago and it was great.

We're doing a dinner reception. Leaning towards family style. Trying to keep it casual, but still elegant.

We have a tropical/beachy theme and our colours are caribean blue, silver, white and sand.

We're having a traditional evening reception, BUT we are making it very 'us'. We are having a beachy/tropical theme, so instead of the typical buffet of roast beef and chicken, we are having a taco buffet with 12 toppings, a couple sides and salads (Mexican themed, of course!). And our midnight supper is a gourmet hotdog buffet with 14 toppings!

We are also going to have a HUGE (I'm talking over 100 pounds) candy buffet - I want kids, and adults, to have a 'holy shit' moment when they see it!

We’re having a brunch reception at about the same time. Our venue is the Pavillion of a botanical garden.

We’re still looking for caterers but want a casual but elevated chicken and waffles, mimosa bar vibe.

The entire day should be over by about 3pm.

We are having our surprise wedding at an Italian restaurant at 5:00pm. Laid back, small, what we would consider a "typical family dinner". Plated dinner with a large menu to choose from (about 8 entrees!) We are just having some greenery along the middle of the table along with some votive and pillar candles, fairy lights, and a pretty simple gold arbor with white fabric draped with twinkle lights behind it, and some small floral at the top. So excited!!

Ours was in the evening with a buffet dinner in a barn. It was pretty laid back and rustic feeling.
