What kind of food are you serving?

Sarah, on March 2, 2019 at 14:03 Posted in Wedding reception 0 14
Hey ladies I’m 17 months away from my wedding which sounds like a long time but it’s coming fast.We are planning on doing buffet style food but we are doing it ourselves with the help of our friends to save costs on caterers 😳I’m curious what kind of buffet foods you would serve? What are some of your favourites at weddings?

How does a potato bar with all the fixings sound?Cheese, bacon, onions, sour cream etc. What would you add?Do we provide both baked and mashed?

Taco bar with lettuce, onions, salsa, sour cream, cheese, bacon, tomato’s,guacamole, wraps and hard shells. What am I missing?

Pasta bar with lasagna, spaghetti, bow tie pastas meat sauce, red sauce and white sauce, meatballs, garlic bread.

Another station with chowmein,veggies,rice etc

Of course there will be a salad bar as well.

What am I missing?Would you ditch any of those and order pizza instead? The food isn’t a huge deal for us as we rather spend the night dancing 🕺🏼

Selection sounds great for international buffet style.

The only thing I would change if it was my choice is the carb factor of taking out the Chinese noodles or rice because the pizza option for late night is adding on the carbs. Roast beef or pork sliced with gravy to be an option to go with the noodles and veggies may give that protein offering.

We had 3 course meal served to our guests and late night buffet too. When deciding on what to serve for late night options, I thought about how much guests will be drinking and what would be good to be finger size/portion. The options that worked were assorted sandwiches/wraps and veggies as healthy choices.

All of that sounds delicious! We're having an antipasto bar followed by a three-course Italian meal - steak for the main - and then a Venetian table as well.

We will be serving Pulled Pork BBQ! Basically anything home-style is a fav. of mine.

Potato bar sounds AMAZING. I would go with both, but if you had to choose then go with a baked potato because people can mash it up and have mashed potato!

Taco bar sounds like you got everything listed - oh HOT SAUCE!!

Pasta bar is alright, I don't care for those but it is a decent filler.

Any sort of Chinese food sounds like a win for me!

I wouldn't order pizza at all - I could do that myself when I get home from the wedding Smiley tongue Maybe get rid of the pasta for it though.

Were getting married June 6, 2020 and i booked my caterer a few months ago. we’re doing something a bit unique that has helped us to save some money - we’ve hired a food truck as our caterer. our food will still be served buffet style! well be serving smoked brisket, pulled pork, roast chicken, mac and cheese, warm potato salad... just to name a few

I think you have a lot of buffet options covered!

For the potato bar, definitely provide both kinds of potatoes.

I'd also add soft shells to the taco bar, some people (i.e. me) don't like hard shells (I cut my cheek with one once, hurt like heck!). I assume you already are having ground beef with the tacos? Also some beans in case there's any vegetarians, or people who want beans with tacos!

Don't forget the parm for the pasta bar!!! Personally, the pasta bar would be the option I'd pick for a buffet wedding.

I think pizza would be a great idea for a late night snack!

That’s quite a variety, if you yourself have to tend to the food I would maybe cut back to ease your stress. I would just do salad, pasta, and breadsticks, and maybe order pizza or deli platters for a midnight lunch.

Our venue will be serving beef and pork roast, with many sides, including some vegetarian options. As for a "midnight snack", we'll be serving s'mores kits and sausages to prop over the fire pit.

It looks like you've got a great selection of food. You could add some chicken wings, they're messy but so good and easy to make.

Anywhere from 50-130 lol I’m inviting most of the people I know but a ton aren’t the most reliable so I’m going for simple and suitable for left over options lol.

I have actual never been to a buffet wedding so this is super cool because buffets are my favourite! (Fat kid at heart here). I love the potato bar idea! I would do both mashed and baked, but for the baked make sure they are cut in half already so it’s easier to add all the fixings! There’s a buffet we go to that has a baked potato bar and it is super annoying to have to find a knife to cut in in order to add everything!
All of this sounds super amazing! If you want you can always get some pizza and cut the slices smaller and then there is another option for people!
