What is your future Mrs. name?!

Amanda, on January 28, 2022 at 19:12 Posted in Just married 0 31

It's almost 7 years that my fiance and I have been together, 4 year engagement and 2 postponements but I finally became Mrs. Lewicki in 191 days!!!

If you'll be changing your last name after the wedding, what new name are you taking on?

My husband took my family name when we got married. It seems his last name could have been related to a pop star artist Speers with an e.

I will become Mrs. Boutcher in 134 days!
I am currently using my maiden name hyphenated with my first married last name. Mr. Boutcher says that’s a no go in the days ahead 😂

It's really up to you on what you wanna change personally and professionally. If I was in your shoes I would hyphenate for all so then I wouldn't get confused! But that's just me

I will happily be taking my fiancés last name and become Mrs McGregor! It’s mostly so that I can say it with a Scottish accent 😂

    Hi Amanda,

I am not necessarily looking to change my name on my documents but rather using my maiden name professionally and hyphenate my personal stuff OR hyphenate everything?

I think thats a lovely idea with having your maiden name as your middle name and honouring your father ❤

I would look more into it with possibly the government website on what actually needs to be changed. I highly doubt that your degrees and certificates need to be changed

It's hard to decide when you're the last one in the family that wont carry on the name for sure!

I'm thinking of legally moving my maiden name to my middle name and then I'd be Mrs. Grewal! Idk how fast I will actually end up changing it legally though. I will definitely take on his name unofficially. My degree says Turcotte and I'm really proud of it cause well it's not like my fiance did university of me LOL. Plus it's my dad last name and my dad passed away so I feel like that's one part of him that I always have with me so I don't want it to completely disappear from my name.

This is something I am also struggling with. We are in our 50's, I have degrees, certifications and professional associations- what do I change and what do I leave? Do we have to change everything? Can we hyphenate some things but not others #soconfused

I am still trying to figure this one out. Like a couple of you, I am the last of my family name and am having a real hard time ending that. While my mother is carrying on the name and not likely getting married, Im the only child and I love my mothers paternal family so much.

My FH is aware of my "concerns" and if we happened to have kids, he'd be happy to include that last name too.

I will likely legally go by a hyphened last name (Bent-Rous) but non-legally (which I already live my life that way) will go by Mrs Rous. hehe

soon to be Mrs. Andrekson , although I actually like his last name better than my own it will be quite a long name if I use my full first name lol , but I usually go by Alyx Alyxandra Megan Andrekson! Quite the mouth full I think! 😝 It will take some getting used to! But I can’t wait!! 🤍

I have been with my fiancé for 10 years, 7 engaged and two postponements since 2020. I am happy to say I will FINALLY become Mrs. Paulino on August 27 this year and refuse to postpone again!

I'm the last person in my family with my last name that could continue it so that was something I had to think of as well. But I don't have a super emotional connection with my name so it was an easy choice to make for me

I've gotten that exact same question! I was thinking about it because of my job as well as my maiden name will not continue on since I'm the only child on my dad's side. But I decided in the end not to. I'll probably hyphenate my name on my social media just because but that will be it

I am very excited to be taking my Fiancés last name and becoming Mrs. Derksen!! A couple people have asked if I'd consider hypenating my name and I've said absolutely not! My name is already long enough and McPherson-Derksen sounds sooo silly!
