What are the restrictions looking like?

Devin, on December 26, 2020 at 11:03 Posted in Ontario 0 6
Hey everyone, my wedding is set for June 19th 2021, original date was supposed to be June 20, 2020 but of course we had to postpone. Things aren’t looking fantastic right now even for our new date. I’m having trouble figuring out what restrictions are looking like at the moment and wondering if anyone can fill me in. I’m assuming right now during the Ontario-wide lockdown no weddings are allowed whatsoever but does anyone know what guest count restrictions are like after the lockdown is over?
I want to go through with this new date no matter what because I just don’t have the emotional energy to go through postponing a second time Smiley sad planning was stressful enough already the first time around, and even now it’s hard to hold on to any amount of excitement over our big day with everything going on... thank you I’m advance everyone. Hope you are all safe and well

    Literally same!
I just don't wanna build up excitement again. And yes, the petty crap seems even more petty after all this!

Unless you were planning a huge wedding I think you will be okay for September!! But I understand it’s hard to hold on to any optimism at this point. It’s hard to even feel excited anymore. I look back and laugh now at the things I was worried about a year ago like if it would rain on my wedding day or if I made the right choices for our dinner menu hahah. I wish those were still my only worries. I have 0 expectations anymore.

God what a mess this all is! Thank you so much for the info. If we can be allowed 25 people in an outdoor setting then I think we can make our wedding work. My expectations are so low at this point so as long as I can have my closest friends and family beside me (six feet away) then I’m up for it hahah.
I think you have a good shot for September since many people will have had the vaccination by then! Fingers crossed for you my friend Smiley smile

Yes, you can currently have a wedding ceremony with 10 people (including officiant and vendors) but it must be in a place or worship or outside. You can't host it inside your house or in an event/meeting hall.

We're also now Sept 2021, moved from our original date of last Saturday, and we're pretty much rolling with the punches. It is what it is. Here's hoping by that time there's enough vaccinations and that we actually get this under control to the point where we can at least have a legit ceremony.

Weddings are currently allowed but it's ceremony only though, no reception and it must be in a place of worship or outside in the blistering cold. 10 people max (including officiant and all vendors) if space allows for 6 ft of physical distancing per person. Meeting and event spaces cannot host weddings as they're only allowed to open for government/court services, childcare, and addiction support. You cannot have the wedding inside your house because people not from your household are technically not allowed to enter your home (so even if all your witnesses are people who live with you, the officiant would not be legally allowed to perform the ceremony since s/he doesn't live in your house).

After the lockdown is over, it will depend on what region you're in and what zone it's categorized as. If you're in the Red Zone, you're allowed to have wedding ceremonies in a staffed facility (ie not your private property) with up to 30% capacity of the room, and a reception with 10 people inside or 25 people outside seated in groups of 4 max and being served drinks no later than 9pm. You can't blast music and you're not allowed to serve buffets.

    I feel you.
We moved our October 2020 wedding to September 2021 and even at this point, im not confident. I have no desire to replan, I'm annoyed that each plan I want to make needs like 3 back up plans. Everyone is tired if hearing me complain so I don't bother to tell anyone anymore lol. I'd like to be confident, but I refuse to get my hopes again to be disappointed. I think I read that you could have a wedding ceremony with 10 ppl during Lockdown.
