Wedding venues that allow for a potluck style dinner

If you get married at a church and the church has a hall, they usually allow you to cater in your own food. They usually just charge you a fee for using their appliances.

As it can be difficult to find a venue that allows external caterers due to liability concerns, I recommend you start with the catering company and see where they have catered a wedding before. This will provide you with a shortlist of places that you know allow external caterers!

Do you know who your caterer will be yet?

Most community halls allow you to bring your own food in, for example in Halifax my reception is at St. Mary's Boat Club and we are able to bring in our own food.

I've been to a wedding at a legion in Fairview that was a potluck style.

And a little further out of the city there is Hubbard's Community Barn.
