Our wedding and other Indian weddings, cash has always been given as boxed gifts are no long needed since couples are living together beforehand and have everything they need.

Registry can be done anywhere or multiple stores and online Amazon site now. Sending the names of the stores can help guests to go where is easier to shop or go online to get that particular gift on their own.

A registry is where you pick a store and scan a bunch of items and then everyone you give your registry number too can look at your items and buy you items. it also shows what people bought so hopefully you dont end up with duplicates of things. and you add the registry # to your wedding invites so everyone knows what store to go to buy you guys the items

Usually they are used for a Wedding/Bridal Shower where the main purpose is to go to one and give the bride gifts to complete their home since they will be newly married and moving in with their spouse.

If you don't plan on having a wedding/bridal shower then it would be safe to not have one so that it tells people without telling them that you would prefer cash.

Of course you can! On the invitations, make it clear that gifts are not expected. But I'm sure people will probably still give some money in cards regardless.

A wedding registry is a list of things that you and your future spouse feel you need for your life together. Things like coffee machines, bed sheets, towels, pots and pans, etc etc. You add these things to your registry, and then you make it available to your wedding guests and then they pick and choose what they wish to gift to you as your wedding gift. Wedding registries are usually done online now and most home stores have their own. But FH and I made one from myreigstry.ca where we're able to add anything from any store to it, so we've got things from Bed, Bath and Beyond, Ikea, Wayfair, and Amazon. You can also ask for monetary gifts on some online registries if there's something specifically expensive that you want to purchase together, like your first home, for example, or if you have a home already maybe you wish to have some money for renovations, or even money towards your honeymoon. So it all depends on what you and your spouse-to-be would like.
