Hi ladies,
My husband and I were planning to have a destination wedding in Cuba in July 2020, but we were going to do a secret legal ceremony in Canada shortly before.
We couldn't wait to get married, so we just went to the city hall with our parents and got married on January 31st 2020! It was a super rushed decision to do it half a year before our destination wedding, so I didn't have an outfit that I loved, and we didn't have a photographer or anything... It was supposed to be a secret "paper signing" before the real deal in Cuba.
Needless to say, Cuba got cancelled because of Covid. We have rescheduled the wedding several times, but it never worked out with constantly changing restrictions.
We were going to do a ceremony with our parents and a couple close friends again, with a real photographer and the white dress on January 31st, 1 year exactly after our legal ceremony. But with the new lockdown, it isn't working again.
We don't have any nice photos from the legal ceremony, and I have a beautiful dress that I never got to wear...
At this time, we aren't going to reschedule anymore (done it 5 times already!), but just have a photoshoot for the two of us in our wedding attire and then stay overnight in a bridal suite in a very fancy hotel.
But I keep thinking that just dressing up in a wedding dress to take pictures 1 year after getting married is kind of weird...
I never wanted a big wedding to begin with, so I would have been happy with a simple elopement. My biggest regret is not making our legal ceremony nicer in the first place.
What's your take on it?
