Wedding on a budget

Ailsa, on December 7, 2018 at 17:06 Posted in Ontario 0 9

Hello brides!

Current planning is getting stressful because we're trying to plan an elegant modern wedding on a very tight budget. I would love to hear tips, tricks and advice about planning and saving. I am also open to venue recommendations that WON'T break the bank, preferrably somewhere in the GTA.

Many Thanks

    I looked a lot in Woodbridge and found that Paradise was very reasonably priced (especially in the off-season!).

    Thanks for the advice, Bianca! Super helpful!

    We're looking at anywhere that's affordable within the GTA, just so its easier for all our friends and family travelling to come (:

    Congratulations on getting engaged! There are so many ways to have the wedding of your dreams without over spending, so you’re in the right place!

    If you’re open to other days (not Saturday) that usually will save you money at venues.
    Find a venue that’s is already naturally pretty, therefore you won’t have to spend extra money to decorate.
    Skip the save the dates.
    Order your invites from VistaPrint.
    Skip the wedding party. We’re only having a best man and maid of honour, and it means we only have to buy the one bouquet and boutonnière.

    What part of the GTA are you looking to get married in?

    Best of luck!

    Get married in an off or shoulder season during an off day or time off possible.

    Consider googling Toronto wedding pop ups as well!

    Congrats!!!
    A few of my saving tips:
    -DIY as much as you can!
    - Check Amazon for accessories (I got my shoes for $17)
    - Check online bridal stores (JJs House I recommend to everyone! I got my veil and headpieces from there which are GORGEOUS and were under $20 each!)
    - Dont be scared to use friends and family! I'm saving on a Day of Coordinator by putting some of my moms friends to work with help on set up!
    - Hit up the Canadian Bridal Show! Vendor there always have great deals at the show! I got my DJ for his special which was $600 off the regular price
    - GET MARRIED IN AN OFF SEASON AND / OR FRIDAY! we are getting married on a Friday and vendors give us great deals for this alone!

    Those are some of my tips! We are spending a LOT on our venue/food so trying to save everywhere else we can!! Do the same! Pick something between you 2 that is the most inportant for your day and spend on that and save elsewhere!

    Hi Ailsa,
    Congratulations and welcome to WeddingWire!
    Before you start, I'd suggest sitting down with your FH and determining what's important for you both? Is it the food, the music, the decor, an open bar? From there, you can decide what you can cut, or DIY and what to assign more of your budget towards.

    Here are a few tips for a budget-friendly wedding:
    - Not every DYI project will save you $$ in the end, so pick them wisely!;
    - Fake/Faux Flowers instead of real ones;
    - Playlist vs. DJ;
    - Skip the Save the Date and the paper RSVP;
    - Etsy wedding invitations printed by VistaPrint;
    - Wedding Webiste w/ online RSVP;
    - Skipping the cake;
    - Check Facebook wedding groups for decorations up for sale

    Hope these help - Happy planning!!!
