We had an Odficiant bundle up services in his folder for couples to choose whay poems, readings and vows you want to have.

    Ask questions to know:
How long will the wedding be
What is the cost and when do they get paid
Would theirs license allow you to add any cultural aspect.

Our Officiant took one part of the indian tradition out due to his license. He left right away after the service for the same reason.

This should get you started! Smiley smile

Are you available on my wedding date?

Will you be able to perform a wedding at my desired venue?

Are you licensed to perform a ceremony in the province we’re getting married in?

    How much do you charge?

How many times should we meet before the ceremony?

How long have you been performing ceremonies?

How much can we personalize our ceremony?

How long does a ceremony typically take?

Can you provide a writing or taped sample of a ceremony you performed?

What happens in case of an emergency?

I would definitely ask whether the rehearsal and travel are included. I was shocked that many officiants charged extra for having a rehearsal! In my experience, I only met with two of them but they each had long checklists and asked us a lot of questions. We chose the one we had a better vibe with.

I had a nice chat by telephone with the officiant and looked at her references which were amazing. She sent me two scripts for the ceremony and I chose one. If I wanted to make any changes in the script, she was open to that. Very easy.

I think you need to have a good idea of how you would like the ceremony to go, what length you want it to be and if you would like to add any elements. Can they accommodate what you envision? Do you need to do anything like a class or something? I think it also depends on if you have a religious or civil ceremony.

I think it depends on the sort of officiant you want. The officiant was the easiest part for me because I grew up in church, so I just asked the minister I grew up listening to on Sundays. If you don't already know someone, I think it's important to decide what you want your ceremony to be like. Do you want your own vows, symbolic elements, religious traditions? Do you want a religious officiant? If so, maybe ask them if they will require you to do pre-marital counselling. If not, I think it would be best to share your vision and expectations with them and see if you're on the same page
