Wedding Lunch Options

Wawa, on March 26, 2020 at 19:11 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5

Hey everyone, who here will be hosting or have attended a lunch wedding in a hall? For those who have been, how do you feel about a plated vs buffet? I know lunch/daytime weddings tend to be less formal but curious if anyone felt they had to elevate the feel because it was a wedding.

Also, how were drinks handled? Do you still go with an open bar package? It feels weird to encourage that much drinking that early in the day but I feel like the way consumption bars get tallied, you would end up paying just as much if not more than an open bar. We're not allowed to bring our own alcohol.

Absolutely! Given that both meals look quite heavy, I’m sure brunch food with steak is pretty much dinner anyway Smiley smile

You could always try having brunch foods for a dinner reception!

Thank you Ali!! This is very helpful 😊
We found a location that can accommodate both lunch and dinner, but the lunch option has a very nice menu. Mimosas all the way!!

My cousin did a lunch wedding and I was actually going to as well! What worked for him is that he was married at the same venue as the lunch reception (at 10am). After the ceremony, there was a mimosa and champagne hour while the wedding party got photos done. After that, they joined and lunch was served buffet style. It was the best wedding I have attended! Alcohol only included bottled white/red wine, glasses of champagne and mimosas.

The reason I am not doing this same idea anymore is that I am getting married in my church which won’t accommodate a morning wedding. The time between the church wedding, receiving line, and then wedding party/family pictures could take 2-3 hours. This would not allow for lunch to be served in a timely fashion. Just something to consider! Also- if you want basic photos without location changes then this makes a lunch wedding easier to accommodate.

Do lunch weddings also typically include a cocktail hour or do they just jump straight into the lunch?
