Wedding invitations help!

Emma, on March 19, 2017 at 23:16 Posted in Before the wedding 0 6

Hi everyone. I ordered my wedding invitations and already have them. Our wedding is on Friday August 11th,2017. My mom says to wait to send the wedding invitations til two months before our wedding day but I think we should send them out sooner. All of my guests lives a minimum of 4 hours away and most of his guests lives a miniinmum of 3 hours away. A lot of our guests have to make hotel reservations since we are so far away. Theres only one hotel around the town we live in or else they would be driving over an hour to get to a hotel. We are not doing save the dates to save money. Also we are not doing rsvp cards. Instead of rsvp return cards, I have it printed on the invitation to rsvp by our event page on facebook or to phone us. I have no idea when I should send out the wedding invitations because I think it should be sooner than two months. What do you guys think? Thank you everyone in advance.

Because you have out of town guests who need to book the hotel, and you aren't doing save the dates I would send them out sooner. My wedding is August 12th and my cousin said 2/6 hotels in the city I live in are all booked up that weekend and so you want to give them as much notice as possible. I would consider saving a block of rooms for your guests if you only have one hotel. We are sending our invites out in May, but we also did save the dates!

Thank you everyone very much for your replies. I decided that I will get them started today and start writing out the addresses on the invitations and get them to the postal office soon as I can. I know if I were invited to a wedding I would prefer as much notice as possible so I could plan ahead. Thank you everyone again Smiley smile

If you're not sending out save the dates, I would send them out sooner than 2 months before.

I agree! I find the typical timeline of 2-3 months before the wedding a bit short notice, and I would also be tempted to send them out now give the out-of-town guests plenty of notice. I don't think this could be considered "too soon", if that even exists in this type of context lol

2 months is the standard, but since you're not doing save the dates and the majority of your guests are out of town, I would say send them out now. Also see with the hotel near you if they can save a block of rooms for you that your guests can book. We sent our invites last month and our wedding is in July, so that's also what we did, since almost everyone is traveling to our wedding.
