Wedding Horoscope: When did you get engaged?

I got engaged on July 25, 2016 which is my birthday, so it's a Leo sign.

April 14, 2016 - Aries Engagement

We have a Capricorn engagement. He proposed on New Year's Eve. He's actually an Aquarius and I'm a Taurus.

Once I was coherent again we told his parents and his brothers (I was still happy-crying and shaking anyways) and we all hugged and were laughing because his parents had a bet on how long it would take for Christopher to propose to me once he brought home the ring (7 days apparently). They had to custom order the ring for me because my finger size is pretty small (4.5) but it would take about 2-3 months for them to have it in so Christopher was initially going to wait 2 months to propose to me with the actual ring but he couldn't wait that long! lol so the ring I was proposed with was a size 7 and they put in spacers so it wouldnt fall off my finger till the custom ring came. The funny part was coming home and telling my mom we had got engaged because she was sleeping and I debated whether or not to wake her up but then decided that she would definitely want me to wake her up. So I did and held my hand out and she didn't get it at first and then she looked again and her mouth just dropped. She started crying and hugging us and I started giggling and crying like a looney person again. It was pretty funny.

Engagement Ring

Planning is a bit stressful...I'm trying to keep.it small and intimate with our immediate families and closest friends, but he'd rather it be just us. I told him we have to compromise because I'm not getting married without my children, Mom, sister and her family and my brothers kids. I'm still waiting for the confirmation so I can find a small banquet facility or keep it at the hall I've booked already. he's a very frustrating guy!! then we'll have a party a couple months from now.

Christopher and I first met in high school. I thought he was really cute, but then I met his girlfriend. We shared an English class together and he wrote a short story on penguins that I voted for in the short story contest we had. I won. In Grade 12 he and his gf had a locker beside me. She always blocked me from getting into mine, so Christopher would come to my rescue sometimes and make her move so I wasn't late for class. Later that year they broke up and his friends started hanging out with my friends and he would offer to walk or drive me home to make sure I got home safe. I only lived a few streets away so I ducked out a few times on him because I didn't want him to go to the trouble. He eventually convinced me to go out with him after a lot of persistence. Our first date was a two-minute drive to Tim Hortons and I probably said five words to him the entire time because I was so nervous. After he dropped me off at home I messaged him saying I wish I had stayed with him longer. After that we got together more and on New Year's Eve of 2010 I asked him to be my boyfriend. He said yes.

The day before Christopher proposed I got a proposal from his 6 year-old cousin. I told Christopher about it and he laughed and replied, "How long do I have to make a counter-proposal?".I thought nothing of it, we had been dating 6 years and 8 months at the time, and we always joked about getting married and proposing--I always said I wanted to be surrounded by penguins. The next day was Christopher's 25th birthday and I didn't suspect a thing. After having dinner with his family we went to his room and I got all curled up in his bed. He started acting weirder than usual, a little squirrelly, and made sure I was comfortable and had something to drink. Then Odin (our dog) jumped up on the bed and curled up next to me. Christopher told me to close my eyes so he could open the cupboard in his room to get Philip (a penguin USB) he needed for work because he had a Christmas present in there he didn't want me to see. So I closed my eyes and when he told me to open them he was kneeling on the floor beside me. He said: "I need to ask you something. I wasn't sure if I was going to do it today, or if this was the right moment, but you look so cute and comfortable and are in a safe place, and Odin's here-- and all I've ever wanted for my birthday was you. Will you marry me?". And he opened a tiny box to show me the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen. I was in shock and bolted right up in bed to hug him. I was shaking and crying and Odin had no idea what was going on so he started nibbling the blankets and Christopher. I don't even know if I said yes or nodded it, but through the tears of happiness I asked him if I could put the ring on and he laughed and he put in on my shaking hand. I couldn't believe it. I looked down at the penguin bed sheets that surrounded me and smiled and cried some more. We were engaged.

My family is old generation filipino. When they moved to Canada, they met and I was born here... As their oldest child, I was the perfect example of what not to do/become to my youngest brother. Haha! Some filipino families (depending on age/generation) are strict about certain traditions...

Weird Traditions My Mom Tells Me:
- Groom's family is suppose to cover the costs of wedding expense (according to my mom, maybe she doesn't want me living the same mislead life that she ended up having)
- The guy MUST have money in order to marry the daughter (stability reasons etc - according to my mom)
- formal asking agreement of the parents to get the girl's hand in marriage. Apparently there is a superstition that the bride will not fit the wedding dress or it will be cancelled, or not to drive or travel on a long journey or the couple will get into an accident
^ Technically my mom was all over me marrying someone who is not filipino during the first couple months when I was dating him online when I had the guts to show her a few pics.
- "The Money Dance" basically during the bride and groom's first dance... People pin/tape money onto the bride and groom (money that they can keep)
- FAMILY IS KEY IN THE WEDDING

What I broke:

^ My fiancee is not rich, he's digging his way out of a student loan hole nor does he come from a rich family... Just people who own a small house in the countryside of New Brunswick

^ Slept next to him while I was looking after him during his first stay in Winnipeg at my Uncle's house that my family was renting out the basement at the time... He had pnumonia which had progressed and winded him up in a hospital with an IV in his arm on Christmas Day. He was already frail and coughing a lot when we met at the airport, but he did not want to waste the money he used on the flight to come see me as promised.

^ I may not have family present for my wedding, still debating on whether or not I want to have a small intimate one where I don't have to deal with drama + roudy family members or invite the whole families (both my mom and dad's sides --- that's already a small village) including my fiance's family (he only has a few, he won't invite the ones who he'll never see eye to eye etc). It's funny when my mom expects the groom's family to do that thing of a tradition when there's more of her and my dad's side vs my fiance's side -- heck our guest list is mainly mutual friends but more so people that I know since he's not from Winnipeg and doesn't get out much.

I would rather have the few family that cares about me at my wedding than people who are more plastic than credit cards and who are only there for the food. Why would I want to waste our $ on people who will speak ill about me and the man behind my back!?!

My mom's idea is to have lots of people therefore more gifts, but if I won't enjoy my time and feel uneasy at my own celebration, I best should keep the list short, affordable, and spend the extra that I would of been spending on them on decor to create a nice night with people I'm close to, to remember.

It was a complete surprise to me. We'd been together 4 years but we had gone ring shopping after 6 months of dating. I found the ring while putting clothes away one day thinking it was his late wife's ring about 3 years ago. I'd always wonder if it would happen and it never did so I kind of forgot about it. Fast forward to Christmas 2014. My family had a great loss on the 20th of December . ..my brother lost his battle with ALS. The next few days were full of stress and sadness. My mom stayed over Christmas Eve so she could share the morning with us and our son. I passed out the gifts and he gets up and says "do you want this now or later?". I chose now. He'd wrapped a GPS box up and I got suspicious. When I saw the purple box, my first thought was "earrings?". Then I saw the ring, he teared up when he asked but I didn't. I actually laughed...lol! Later I apologized for not being emotional and he apologized for not asking sooner. Apparently the ring came on every trip we went on!The decision to get married was quick. We originally wanted to get married in Vegas, but then too many people wanted to come and he thought it would cost too much. So I suggested getting hitched on the 14th of January and then we honeymoon in Vegas. He isn't really a planner, so I've been doing it all...he just lends his opinions...lol

Leo Engagement. August 10th 2014

Us too! How exciting!

When we were opening presentswith family, I got my present from him and he leaned over and told me that I would get the rest of mine later, very cryptic and I am trying very hard not to read anything into this. We had discussed getting married eventually when he had first moved in 2 years before and had decided that we would wait until he had more job stability. Since he was still on a term contract I was really trying not to read anything into this so as not to be disappointed. Later on in the morning we decided to go for a walk, it was a beautiful super cold crisp day with fresh snow and lots of sun so everything was sparkling crystals. We walked over to the one are of Saskatoon where they have a lake/pond in a park and he stopped me and asked if he could ask me to marry him (I tease him about this since we both got so excited he didn't actually ask until later that night) He had asked my parents for permission so they were waiting back at home very excited. I hadn't thought of doing anything to celebrate since Christmas we are always with family of one sort or another.

Close! His birthday is April 21st, he proposed on May 9th. When the dog was getting spayed -- of all the days! He said he didn't want to keep the ring in his pocket any longer weeks after I questioned his actions. Then he went to work after his awkward spontaneous/proposal. *shakes head* He did get me the guitar lessons game on the day of though... My parents didn't seem to give a hoot that I got engaged. My aunt congratulated me, but my own parents because of their cultural differences with the western society didn't understand. And yet my mom and the rest of the family was critical when I broke tradition in so many ways possible.

His taurus personality is like... Hmm... Like most tauruses they're stubborn!
He is reliable, I'd say he lose points from patience sometimes, devotion is there, stable, responsible for the part. Already mentioned stubborn! Haha! Possessive, he can be. The likes and dislikes are spot on.
