Wedding food

Jodi, on July 17, 2017 at 16:38 Posted in Wedding reception 0 7

Hi Brides!!

we are having our wedding at a Ranch, we found an excellent deal and have a 1000$ food budget for about 60 people. wondering what you would recommend.

ideas we have thought about is Potluck- but I don't want to put our guests out- if we did potluck it would allow us to have more money for booze.

also food trucks? not sure what this usually runs

.. any other ideas? we have some time as we are getting Married September 2018.

Potluck would be out for me as i would want my guests to enjoy their time. If you feel that bbq being a ranch style wedding fits your theme, then shop around caterers or see what selection can work for you buying yourself.

I'm sure there are caterers that will be lower than your budget for the number of guests.

I'm not a fan of the food truck idea. Seems more like a carnival than a wedding. Would you be able to get help from mother, MIL, aunts, cousins, etc. to cook the food and bring it to the wedding? At my previous wedding, I bought chicken when it was a really good deal and made chicken teriyaki and rice. Then I bought Italian sausages and made a pasta dish. My MIL made the cake so that was dessert. Because I had a child in hospital the week before my wedding, I asked guests to bring a salad, any kind they liked. There was enough food for everyone and it didn't cost very much.

I went to a food truck wedding and it was amazing! You can also up your food budget by having a "stock the bar" party. We're doing that for the bridal shower. Everyone brings a bottle of alcohol be it wine, rum, etc and we use that at the reception. It would help save you some money you could put towards other things.

Here I send you some inspiration of other brides: Food menu - Food ideas for my wedding social - Let's talk food.. - What food will be served at your wedding? - How much food and drinks will you need? - My Low-Cost Wedding: Food Menu. Buffet is also a good option for a wedding. xx

    Food trucks are pretty expensive.

As for food itself, can you make any of it yourself and do a buffet style?
