Wedding Favours that Give Back

Allison, on January 2, 2020 at 13:10 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5

Hi everyone!

I really want to make sure my wedding favours are doing something to help the community. I wanted to give a donation in lieu of a favour, but my fiance is fearful that people will ask questions like "Did you really give a donation, or are you just trying to get out of another expense" or "How much did you really donate per person?"

He also thinks it's important that our guests leave with a physical item.

I know there are a couple of companies in southern Ontario that work to help the community. For example, The Southridge Jam Co. is a social enterprise in Niagara that provides individuals who have recently experienced homelessness the opportunity to develop job training and life skills.

Does anyone know of similar companies/programs? I'd like to support two different companies for me Bridal Shower and Wedding.

Can you put specific details about what and who youre donating too. like a sign in the front that says in lieu of a favor we have donated X amount to X place which saves dogs (or whatever they do) for more info on our donation check out X website.

You can get seed paper that you plant to grow herbs or wildflowers. They would be cute as a thank you card or as a tag on a more typical favor.

    HI Allison,

I Think this a great idea, as Kelsie said, maybe a receipt in their name would fit perfectly in my option. You can make the receipt into a thank you card and maybe attach a homemade cookie perhaps.

I would say to avoid that monetary gift in their honour that maybe you could give them something that is good for the earth or something. Like maybe plants or seeds or something? Let love grow?

My FH is also of the view guests should have a physical item as a "thank you". He actually was considering doing a donation though but we agreed, guests won't actually know the donation was made unless there is some type of tax receipt you can give to that person in their name. It just becomes complicated.

We ended up getting physical favours which we are very happy with.
