Wedding expos?

Salume, on December 17, 2016 at 18:01 Posted in Before the wedding 0 15
I was wondering if it's worth it to go to wedding expos or not. I'm only gathering information right now and thought it would be a good idea to check out vendors while we're not in a hurry to make decisions! Can you please share your experience and say why you did or did not like going to these exhibitions?

I went to a Wedding Expo last January right after we got engaged. It was good in that it gives you lots of ideas and contacts. On the other hand it was also HUGELY overwhelming for us at that point. We had no idea what we were looking for so it was just infomation overload. I would like to go again in January now that I am looking for some pretty specific things and can have more intellegent conversations with people. You do also usually get discounts for booking at or shortly after the expo.

We live in California and got married in Vancouver so it was technically a "destination" wedding for us!

Thanks for the hint! As soon as I learned there are prizes and draws I thought it would be a time saver to print some contact info before hands Smiley smile

Can I ask where your wedding was? We are also considering the idea of a destination wedding and looking into prices right now. Many of my friends and family members live far away and it would be great to find a middle ground where both sides can attend relatively easily.

Loved the wedding shows I went to! I did 2, one in the city I live and one in the city where I'm getting married. I found the one that was local to my wedding location (though much smaller) the most helpful. The vendors that are there often give fantastic deals if you book with them after the show, I got my hair and makeup trial 1/2 off and a great deal on my limo because I met the vendors at the show.

Definitely look around for deals on the entrance fee, there's ALWAYS one somewhere.

And print your information onto address labels! You have to write out your info SO MANY TIMES... it's a life saver!

I think they can be a good experience if you do your research and go to a good one. I went to one and got tickets from a Groupon and it wasn't the greatest quality. Mine was a destination wedding so I couldn't use any of the vendors but they do give away a lot of free stuff and have contests/raffles. I would recommend checking reviews or asking around before going.

I went to two different bridal shows this year - same thing as a wedding expo but different name! I think they were very helpful as they were 2 smaller ones and you get to check out different vendors, compare prices, and see what things you might want to include in your wedding! Also the ones I went to, there were lots of chances for small prizes and had some bigger prizes to... one of the big prizes was $500 towards your honeymoon! Also if you attend the smaller ones prices are more reasonable as a lot of bigger ones are the more "high end" vendors and will cost a lot more money! Either way it wont hurt to go and compare prices!

Hi Salune, I went to a wedding expo in September and it was worth it as I go to check out ideas and get info from vendors. I do plan to go in January for the bigger expo that is held every year for anything I might have missed and get some more ideas.
