I’m really struggling with decor
i want my theme to be rustic and the colours to be grey and pink
but I’m not sure if DIY is the best way to go or if renting is as I’m worried it will not turn out if I make it or that it will look cheap is it really cheaper to DIY
this decore is really stressful for me I’m worried my wedding won’t look nice

Figure out what you want to try well in advance and test it out! Try it a few times and see if you get better! You got this, girl!!

There are definitely some things you can DIY, and others I'd leave to professionals!

Stuff like table linens, table set up , etc is done by our venue. Most of our decor is being DIY'd since my godmother was an interior designer at some point and is excited to be doing the decor. We are doing uplighting and our DJ will provide that.

Most of the larger things, you may want to leave to the professionals but a lot of the decor can be DIY'd and look really nice!

I would for sure consult some decorators to see what their cost is and what they could do for you - especially if they do the set up and tear down.

It's not always worth it to DIY it but I'm sure you can find a happy medium. I know that so far we don't have any decor picked out for our wedding but we will be looking into it this month Smiley smile You've got time though so don't fret too much, but also start looking into the cost of linens and whatnot first.

    Hi Sandy,

Welcome to the WW Community! I think every single bride has gone through that thought process at least once: Do I DIY? If so, will it still look good? Is it worth the time/effort/cost?

I'm going to be honest with you : Not all DIY projects are worth it. So you'll definitely have to pick your battles and delegate some of your decor woes to professionals. Here's a good article from A Practical Wedding about popular DIY projects and when they're worth doing and when to delegate : https://apracticalwedding.com/wedding-diy-choices/

Personally, my FH wanted to DIY our music, which I veto'd right away. I don't want to worry about music, or reading the crowd...so we hired a DJ for a decent price. The DJ will also MC for us too, which is a bonus! I also wanted to DIY all of my flower arrangements, but recently realized that wouldn't be possible since I live across the country from our wedding location! I found a woman, through WW, who does arrangements with fake flowers and she could get everything done for half of what was budgeted for flowers! Saving me some $$ AND peace of mind!

Now, I'm DIY our wedding website (wix.com), our StD (vista print) and our invitations (canva.com and vista print). Oh and any other wedding-day signs (cards/gift, welcome, seating chart, etc.). I'm also toying with the idea of DIY little bags for a potential candy bar.

What I'm trying to say is : YOU CAN DO IT! You just have to choose what exactly you're going to do, without sacrificing your mental health!

    Happy planning Smiley smile
